After my prewash on the last correction/coating job I did, I saved the wash buckets. I wanted to see how much dirt was in the buckets. The vehicle was a new 2014 Ford Explorer EcoBoost Limited w/ approx 3k miles on it.

I did my normal prewash w/ car shampoo, dawn and APC using a Microfiber Madness Incredimitt with Grit Guards in the bottom of the buckets.

I let the buckets sit afterwards and had forgot about them till tonight. After I dumped the rinse(clean water)bucket out I remembered I wanted to take some pics.

This is the water only rinse bucket

All of the dirt at the bottom of the rinse bucket did not have a chance to marr or scratch the paint.

If you aren't using the two bucket wash method you should. If you don't know what it is ask me, Corey or any one of our professional detailers on the board.

Love your paint!

Dam that's quite a bit of dirt! 2 bucket method is by far the best way to wash!

I recommend 1 of two methods based on the wash media being used. Either:
A.- Two buckets or
B.- One bucket and spray out the mitt after every panel.

Actually I take that back.... With IXSS I actually use zero buckets. I squirt direct in wet mitt and wash a panel, rinse mitt out well and start with another squirt for next panel or two.

Wow. Was that 1 or 2 grit guards in the rinse bucket?

One grit guard in each bucket. I was expecting more in the wash/soap bucket.

I was amazed at this too when first did it and saw the dirt in the rinse bucket and none in the soap. And my car didn't really look that dirty when I started. It works, I have a brilliant black car and proper wash and CQuartz Finest and year and a half later, no swirls, still looks great.
