View Full Version : A different idea on drying your pads

I came up with this idea last week and I thought I would pass it a long. It seemed like it took forever for my pads to dry after I washed them. Most manufacturers suggest to lay the pad face down so the water won't compromise the adhesive. I found when laying them face down on a towel it took a while. I started using my wife's baking cooling racks. The pads were face down, the water that worked it's way out wasn't sitting on towel and I believe the added air flow around and below the pad helped dry them faster. Combined with my wife not being that happy I was constantly using her cooling racks for detailing work and that after prolonged use there were rust spots on pads(which I had to discard)I figured there had to be a better way. I Googled plastic cooling racks and found only one site that sold them. They were cheap enough at $2.50 per rack so I ordered five. When they wanted $15 dollars to ship them I cancelled my order.

I was Lowes a few weeks ago and spotted a flourscent light cover that was perfect and it was $12 bucks. I cut it into four sections.

I think it's going to work great. Happy wife, no rust spots and dry pads.

I thought about that too. One good thing about my wife's cooling racks they were raised up.

I honestly didn't know how this thread would be taken but I do appreciate the comments and I will work on a updated version. :)

To dry mine out I wrap in towel and run it over with the car.
