In term of protection, v2014 is very similar v2015, I don't notice significant difference.
It is chemically resistant to both acidic and alkaline (basic) solutions. I have tested it with undiluted APC (basic) and undiluted Carpro Spotless water spot remover (acidic) couple times, they really did not do much to Reload. It still beads/sheets the same way.
I also intentionally bake water to form water spots under hot CA sun for few weeks (Yes, not 1 min, not 1 hour, not 1 day, not 1 week but few weeks), water spots still form because when water evaporates, it leaves behind the minerals. A car wash with Carpro Reset removes most of these water spots. There are still some left and the Spotless removes it completely. Now, I also want to disclose that the paint has Opticoat 2.0 beneath Reload so I'm not sure if it is solely Reload protection. It might be contributed by Opticoat too.
Next step is of course a crazier one, baking bird bombs under the sun for couple days and sometimes few weeks. Well, this is going on a regular basis anyways to my dark blue Lexus IS350 2006 because it is parked outside on the street 24/7 throughout the year and birds just love attacking my car with bombs. This does not penetrate through the Opticoat coating and I have to give them credit on this. After the car wash, I can usually see bird bombs stain but it will be fading and disappear upon couple days especially being exposed to the sun. No bird bomb has yet edge or penetrate through the Opticoat layer. Alright back to Reload, when I have Reload on top of Opticoat, these bird bombs area (after washing of course) does not alter the beading/sheeting property of Reload so I can tell Reload does a good job as well. Opticoat and Reload have different beading/sheeting style so I can tell whether Reload is fading or not. However, I don't know if Reload alone can survive baked birb bombs though.
In term of gloss, v2014 is similar to v2015. If I shine bright LED light under the paint or examine it under the sun at various different angles, v2015 is slightly better but not really noticeable. I personally don't believe any LSP can alter the shine much (except paint coating) because gloss/shine comes from the preparation of paint correction and polishing steps.
In term of slickness, v2015 is a bit slicker than v2014. The difference can be felt more after 1 week+. This is very subjective so don't quote me on it.
In term of application, v2015 WINS period!
For v2014 especially the earlier batch (before October?), I think many of you (not all) have some types of oily holograms, and streaking. There are big discussion of various different techniques being suggested and so forth. However, no matter what is being done, some still experience holograms & streaking especially on dark color cars. I have tried so many techniques and still end up the same thing on a dark blue car. The streak won't go away after 2-3 weeks. I have success with white color car though.
For v2015, I spray liberally (yes a lot of product) to cover the entire panel. Then, I spread it with a BOA microfiber towel and lightly buff it with another side of this same towel. Finally, I do a final buff with a 2nd BOA microfiber. I repeat the same thing for all other panels and glass. The dark blue Lexus did have some oily holograms in the next morning. I was disappointed and contacted Corey for immediate help. After exchanging several emails, we found out there are 2 causes: 1. I did not shake the bottle and 2. I applied it at night when it is cold (around 50ish F--yes that is cold in CA) and humid (80%+). Guess what, the oily residue starts to fade away after a few days, and a car wash with Reset removes all these oily residue. Having learned my lesson, I applied it again on a white Lexus, it turned out perfect.
In term of durability, still waiting for results
v2014 lasts 3 months on top of Opticoat. However, v2014 only lasts 3 weeks on top of glaze (Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze).
v2015, still monitoring and will update soon.
Tips of applying Reload
1. Shake, shake, shake the bottle!
2. Do NOT apply it in high humid (70%+) weather particularly at night.
3. Spray LIBERALLY everywhere and spread out evenly for complete coverage.
4. Use HIGH QUALITY microfibers like Carpro BOA ones.
5. Use 1 towel to spread and 1 towel to do final buff.
6. When you see oily holograms in the next day, stay calm because these will evaporate and fade after few days especially being exposed to sun. A car wash should remove this completely.
7. If everything has failed, call 1-800-Life-Saver-Corey-The-Man to rescue.
I will post pictures in the next post.
