I've been having issues with hazing using reload. Here is some background:
Suntek ppf
Cquartz finest
Reload 1:1
Obsidian black paint
After a wash, I sprayed the diluted reload on the hood, about 3-4 sprays per recommendation of detailer. Spread it with short nap of mf towel, then buffed out with another plush mf towel.
The next day I noticed hazing/streaking like crazy. I tried a QD to get it off, but didn't work. Washed car again and sprayed more reload, about 5-6 sprays, but the haze is still there.
Did a little research and found this:
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/products-guides/85371-2014-carpro-reload-2.html
When I called my detailer he said I was using too much reload and that was causing the hazing. When I mentioned the above link, he was perplexed because he mentioned that corey said to use reload sparingly.
My questions are:
1. How do I remove the haze? First application was about a month ago, last application a week ago.
2. How much reload should I be using? Say for half of my hood?
3. Should I ditch the 2014 version and go with the 2015 version? I bought the bottle in the beginning of March.
Thanks in advance for all input

Hi esoteric, my apologies for your troubles with reload. It sounds like you have one of the batches from 2014 if I understand you correctly. Where did you buy this bottle from and what is the date?
Last year there was a batch that had issues and was not easy to use followed by another (which seemed to be corrected) but caused other application issues in many environments.
The installer may be thinking of 2013 version of saying to use super sparingly.
What's the installers name?
To answer you:
1.- Four Star Pre wax cleanser and a foam applicator will easily remove the reload.
2.- 3-4 sprays per "section" BUT you want to apply it directly to the towel as an applicator. "Section" will likely be 2 to 2.5 sq ft. If you spread too much it flashes and bonds before you can spread It evenly.
3.- Throw that bottle away. We have for some time now reached out to anyone that had issues applying so we could replace it.
who sold you a 2014 bottle in March?
-
Here are my tips for the newest formula.
Reload Tips:
#1. check the date on the bottle and make sure you have Reload from after 23/11/14 (date/month/year)
#2 use on clean surface
#3. use outside (for ambient lighting) but not in the sun or on hot panels. If you can get enough ambient lighting through your garage door then thats fine.
#4. Only work with one panel at a time until it looks great from all angles in that lighting.
You apply as follows -
Shake well
Spray a 4-5 sprays directly onto a microfiber towel and spread out left and right and then up and down over a 2 to 2.5 sq ft area
Work it into the paint evenly until almost but not completely gone.
Switch to a fresh clean towel for final buff and remove completely whats left
Should be zero dark streaks at this point but COULD be some oily holograms in certain direct lighting.
If you have any oily holograms a water damp mf after each panel should easily remove that.
NOTE: Apply to one small panel and check in various lighting to be sure you understand proper application and that you are producing the results you want before applying to the remainder of the car.

This forum is awesome on how fast issues are resolved. We rarely see multi-page of ranting and "user error". I have nothing to add :)

I totally agree Dr. Pain! Corey's customer service and the quality of Car pro products has really won me over.

Add me to the above two posts...No matter what other forums may lead us to believe. Corey is available 24/7 and has always responded quickly. Those with axes to grind...well, haters gonna hate. I feel sorry for them, what a waste of energy.

OK, I SCREWED up by not completely reading instructions and sprayed RELOAD on the hood (not the pad) over CQ Quartz, I now have streaks. If I polish the reload off, do I need to reapply the CQ Quartz?
and whats the difference between CQ Quartz and the UK edition?

In fact spraying it on the paint should be zero issue - I added "putting it on the towel" in my tips because for some that seems to make it even easier to apply evenly but with 2015 it seems to flash so much slower it should not be an issue assuming you spread it even, etc, etc
Did you follow the tips I have above (not including the using towel of course)?
Please define streaks -
Are they dark spots or "oily holograms" seen only in direct spot lighting? Dark Streaks should come off easily with some more Reload or some Eraser.
Hmmmmm, I have a different suspicion. I believe it may be an interaction of when the Reload was applied to the coating. As in the coating being "not ready" for the reload yet making it more complex.
Is it one panel that you applied it to and stopped when it wasn't coming out right? Or did you do the entire car? If you did only one panel then wait 24 hours and do one more panel after the coat has had time to cure more. Let me know if all works well on that panel. One panel will be a 30 minute fix even if a worst case scenario and we have to do a light pass with Reflect.
To answer you an abrasive polish will remove the coating as well especially this early on before cure, and at the very least mess up its hydrophobics. Depending on the answers to my questions above and some further discussion we may want to hit it with some Four Star Pre wax cleanser or equivalent, if that easily removes it then we go Eraser and a top coat of CQ. This early on that may likely damage the top of coat and remove some but to further answer your question - Assuming it was fully cured and this had happened Pre wax cleanser from four star should remove reload without removing CQ.
Summary and backing up -
First try is using reload again (it might remove the streaks you have), check that you shook the reload up REALLY good if its first time you are shaking it - unfortunately when it sets on the shelf for a month some settles stubbornly on the bottom of bottle.
Second try is Eraser which may remove it.
Call me anytime at all if your working through this - I'll be up for some time tonight as well if your still working on it - 386-259-0759
Your next question -
Differences between CQuartz UK and CQuartz
Chemical makeup:
CQuartz UK contains a higher volume of Sio2 (Quartz) than other coatings.
CQuartz contains less Sio2 than UK but contains Tio2 (titanium) and other materials as well.
Durability: Both will last over two years if properly maintained.
Appearance:
CQuartz UK provides more depth
CQuartz provides a more reflective gloss
Application:
CQuartz UK was developed for colder climates
CQuartz was developed for warmer climates
NOTE: This does NOT necessarily mean that you will prefer the application of the one that sounds like it was designed for your climate.
Regardless of climate some will find both simple and others will prefer one or the other or v/v.
How to apply CQuartz:
For CQuartz you basically wait between 1-5 minutes depending and find the perfect timing to wipe. Too soon and it will just be oily and no grab to it when wiping. Too late and it becomes hard to remove. You want to remove when you feel it giving just a little push back against your towel but not hard to remove and no longer oily. If left too long it will become difficult to remove. If removed too early then it won’t have a chance to bond.
How to apply CQuartz UK
Go easy at first… Check one panel after your done and take some time to check it in other lighting (great daylight type lighting) before completing the vehicle. If in doubt call and ask BEFORE you finish the car.
If hologram look then this is a sign you are not wiping it off soon enough. It should be wiped off before it feels sticky. Dont let it sit too long.
If “high spots” dark streaks, etc then you need to wipe it off more thoroughly. Great ambient lighting is key during application and removal.
Here are some tips.
#1.- Apply to the surface one section and then wipe it off before it becomes sticky.
#2 - Wiping with only the Suede towels can leave high spots. Be sure to completely wipe off the residue. It should NOT be difficult to wipe so do not press hard BUT you do want to go over it enough times to completely remove residue. This requires going over it a couple times before moving to the next section or panel. Use the CarPro Boa towel as your follow towel behind suede.
#3 - High spots reveal themselves best in great ambient lighting (daylight but not direct sun)
#4. - Be sure to switch out the 4” Suedes after every other panel - 10-15 minutes of using the same suede is ok in cooler weather but decrease that in hot weather.
With UK the key is to wipe off after each section before it gets at all sticky. Then follow with a boa towel after the suede to be sure to remove all excess product. Also be sure to switch out your 4” suedes after every 2 panels at most.
