Hey folks, so I'm posting up my first review here and my first thread with pictures so bear with me, it might not be the greatest. I just recently bought a 2015 WRX and just got everything in the mail to go ahead and coat pretty much everything (paint, wheels, trim). Today I wanted to do a test wheel since I have never applied a coating to a wheel before. First off I had to clean off this weird adhesive that the dealer had left on all of the rims near the center caps. To do this I used TRIX thinking the tar removal portion of TRIX would help dissolve the adhesive and then the iron dissolver could work as well for a 2 in 1 punch.

I'd like for you all to keep in mind that these wheels have 1100 miles on them. This is not a review to see how effective TRIX or IronX can be as they are not as soiled as other examples I'm sure you all have seen. It was mainly to see if TRIX is a good adhesive remover and for practicing coating prep for wheels.

Here's how the wheel looked before and the adhesive you can see on the spokes near the center caps

And here is some tar spots on the back that TRIX should take care of as well as TRIX in action dissolving the tar and iron buildup.

While the TRIX does obviously well, I knew I wouldn't be able to tell if all of the adhesive was gone until it was dry. Just for fun I went ahead and did an application of IronX to see if TRIX missed anything and sure enough Iron X was able to dissolve more iron as seen in the pics below

Does this mean TRIX is a bad product? Not at all, they're both really great products, IronX is just stronger at dissolving iron. Pics up close of the adhesive gone as well as an eraser wipedown and one coat of CQUK.

Some after thoughts. TRIX seems to work great at adhesive removal, minor tar buildup, and iron release. It's a great step to use before the coating and made things squeaky clean, even before and Eraser wipedown. I would speak more of the other products mentioned in this thread but I plan to do another writeup of the full detail later next week if I have time. Thanks for looking, I hope it was a useful review for you. Any questions are welcomed!

Great review!! Don't forget to take a video of the hydrophobic qualities of UK the first time you wash those rims :)

not to jack this thread but I did not want to create a new one.

I just drove on a new road with hot tar and it is all over my just detailed car with cquartz.. :( can I use trix over cquartz without damaging the protective coat?

Yes, most certainly! TRIX is pH-balanced, and safely dissolves both organic and inorganic fallout. Be sure to rinse thoroughly out of all crevices and dont allow to dry on surfaces!

- Shake bottle (Do not allow to seperate in bottle during use)
- Spray across affected area
- Allow to dwell approximately 4-5 minutes
- Gently agitate with wash mitt (only as and where needed. Do NOT over excessively agitate)
- Thoroughly rinse all surfaces

Precautions:

- Avoid polycarbonate headlights, clear bra material, and sensitive plastics
- Avoid use in direct sun
- Avoid allowing to dry surface
- For unknown materials test on small area first

Another option is Tar X. I believe Tar X to be a bit more concentrated (in the tar removal area) as it is a dedicated organic material remover.
