OK I'm not a pro just a guy who has spent too much money on detail "stuff" as of late, I have been doing my own and some friends cars with some different sealants and some Hydro2 (so easy and great BTW). My step father wanted me to coat his mini van and I had wanted to tackle a full coating so I went at it this last Friday. It took me way longer than I thought it would but turned out pretty good.
I 1st washed with CG Citrus wash and MM Incredisponge http://www.carpro-us.com/microfiber-madness-incredisponge/.
Then I Iron Xed http://www.carpro-us.com/iron-x-1liter/ and TRIXed http://www.carpro-us.com/decontaminate/trix-tar-iron-remover-1-liter/.
Then Clayed with Nanoskin AutoScrub Medium Grade Wash Mitt.
Then I polised the entire van with Reflect http://www.carpro-us.com/paint-polish-cleaners/reflect-high-gloss-finishing-polish-1-liter/ on a Rupes 21 with 5" BP and a 5 1/2" Buff and Shine Green Pad http://www.carpro-us.com/5-1-2-buff-and-shine-green-polishing-pad/.
Then I Erasered http://www.carpro-us.com/paint-polish-cleaners/eraser-500ml/ the entire van.
This prep work took the most time, everything took longer that I thought it would. The wash and Iron X step took way longer than I thought it would and the polishing step took a long time the Reflect was great and wiped off so easy that I'm sure it would have taken longer with something else. I was not prepared for how much surface area the is on a mini van.....lol. The Eraser step went pretty fast then I was ready to try the CQUK http://www.carpro-us.com/cquartz-uk-edition-30ml-kit-w-reload/.
It was rainy and 55 here in Michigan so I had to stay in the garage, it was my step fathers garage and it had plenty of room which was great but it had crappy lighting which sucked. I was a lil nervous but it was pretty easy to apply the CQUK I did go back over the car several times and kept finding high spots for about 1/2 hour after I thought I was done, I think I went to thick at first and got better as I went. after this I let it cure for about 2 hours.
After the cure time I applied Reload http://www.carpro-us.com/exterior-surface-protection/carpro-reload-new-version-32oz-1-liter/ to all paint, glass and wheels. This was easy just wipe on with a MM Slogger http://www.carpro-us.com/microfiber-madness-slogger-16-x-16/ flip and wipe off, then wipe again with a BOA http://www.carpro-us.com/boa-5-pack-super-soft-plush-microfiber-towel-16-x-24/ this step was by far the fastest. I went back over the van looking and wiping to make sure I got everything and all looked good so I packed up my stuff and was done.
All told it took me about 12 hours but I'm sure it could get faster, the CQUK and Reload went fast it was the prep that killed me and I'm sure I will get better and faster with that but I wanted to take my time and do a good job. My step dad was really happy with it and I hope he is even more happy with the ease of cleaning the CQUK should give him. Sorry for lack of Pics I did take some but they are not on this computer yet and maybe I can get them here and post them, I will try......
