Use a sacrificial layer of Reload to save the coated surface from waterspotting.

Always apply the coating on the wiper blade edges as well, that will reduce the wiper chatter...
Windshield glass is a hard material, hence working with hand will give limited results, if the defect is severe, always use a rotary polishing machine.
Drills are mostly used for metal polishing such as car wheels, exhaust pipes, motor cycle engines etc..

1. Yes, you can use essence to prepare for PPF.
2. Skin can be used to as a protective layer on PPF.
3. Skin is a ceramic coating, hence you can use reload on it.
It may not be that easy with bare hand, at max you could remove some wiper tracks and highly superficial swirls. You can try with carpro ceriglass kits.
