88 deg & 82% humidity makes for a long day with CQUK.

In the cooler weather the flash rate of CQUK was much slower. Under today's conditions it was flashing before I could finish coating a small area. I definitely should have ordered regular CQuartz for these conditions as the flash rate would have been easier to contend with, but I was being cheap and just used the CQUK I had. Luckily this is a personal car as I noticed a couple high spots now that everything is setup I just can't breakdown. I am curious if these high spots will eventually wear down? Otherwise I will have to re-polish those areas and redo the CQUK.

The first time I coated an entire car with CQUK, a pop-up rain storm hit 10 minutes before I was going to start, and the humidity went sky high. Like you, I had a terrible time with the product flashing quickly, and getting VERY sticky! If you are using the latest version of CQUK - its recommended that you wipe it on, and immediately wipe it off. This should keep you safe in almost any conditions.

For the high spots - in the next 12hrs, get a soft foam applicator, or a light polishing pad, and gently go over the spots with some fine polish.

Worse case scenario - you can let it cure, buff off the bad spots, and re-coat.

Greg - this was my first experience with it in high humidity. In the cooler weather it worked awesome. I am going to wait a few weeks and then lightly buff the high spots and recoat.

Maybe the sooner the better to address the high spots. I realize you're at the mercy of the weather. CQUK in cooler dryer weather is the way to go, as you are finding. I try and schedule application on a day that's in the 60's with low humidity. So far that has worked extremely well for me.

Fixing High Spots

The longer it cures the harder it gets but right now those high spots will come off pretty easy with some Reflect finishing polish even by hand with a wipe or two. The bad side is it is easy to damage the smoothness of the coating when it's still so soft which means it might not sheet in that area as well unless you add another coat over the panel. SO if you had a smear on ever panel it would be very time consuming. If its just a tiny little high spot then take a dot of reflect and apply directly to paint, then with a hand foam applicator just wipe once and check, then again if needed, remove completely with soft mf and your good. If its large areas or you over do it then its add another coat to that panel time. Alternately it might wipe off with a non abrasive pre-wax cleanser.

Alternately if it's your car you could wait till it hardens a few weeks and then do a faint wipe with the reflect.

Is it the temperature or the humidity that causes the quick flash? I'm in Southern California and recently purchased a CQUK kit. This would be my first time using a coating. Temps are high here, but humidity is almost always very low (think desert). Am I best off ordering standard CQ and just saving this CQUK for next winter or selling it?

Kazauki- if you have CQUK just use it and do small areas at a time. Apply and polish off almost immediately.

In my experience, the humidity is mostly the problem. I've used UK in 80-85F temps, without much trouble. Granted, you have less time to wipe off the panels at higher temps, but its do-able.

I live in South Florida. High heat and higher humidity. Looks like a wipe on wipe off for cquk would work best where I'm at.
