I'm not sure if it can cause damage to the coating...but I've been doing it for a while.

I?d recommend keeping the steam at a moderate temperature and not holding it in one spot for too long. It?s always best to do a test patch first to make sure the coating holds up well before proceeding with the whole vehicle.
