It depends on how the finish looks to you after the test spot. Each person has their own view of what they consider perfect.

Always use the least aggressive method to accomplish the task. Start with mild first and work up.
M105 - IMHO is an aggressive compound and is a bit finicky to work with and leave a matte finish
M101 - IMHO M101 is slightly less aggressive and, less dusting than M105 and leaves a nicer finish
M110 - This is the latest compound from Meguiars. M110 is less aggressive than M101, less dusting and leaves a better finish.
A favorite cutting compound of mine is Scholl Concepts Shock 2 Cut Extreme Compound. Very little (if any dusting) finishes nice.
Remember all four of these compounds are rated aggressive and should be cautiously used.
