Lately we have been correcting quite a few classics as you'll see from the pics. Last week we corrected a '69 Chevelle and stay tuned for updates on the black Chevy Noba SS in the background. Although this Impala is well taken care of, it has been sitting in storage for the past few years. The paint is not original, it was completely re sprayed prior to going into storage. The owner wants to start taking it to more shows and weekly meets, so he came to us to finish the restorations.

Upon arrival all that was needed was a foam two bucket wash and a very light clay to remove some light contamination and overspray. I don't have pics of the wash process but it was a breeze. The main focus of the detail will be the paint itself.

The paint from afar looked like it was in good shape and the light green color his the defects but once I put my correction lights on the paint, it was clearly a different story. The paint was hammered with sanding marks.

Here's some pics of the before condition:

The paint was on the harder side which is preferred. I played around with some combos but ultimately decided to go with the trusty FG400 on a MF pad via Rupes 15. This combo not only cut through the sanding marks and scratches but left the paint LSP ready. With little to no dust I must add. Despite a deep scratch on the rear truck lid that we leveled down to near unnoticeable we got the paint as we say in the industry 95%+ corrected

Here's a 50/50 and after shots

Really good results for just a compound. At this point you could almost seal or coat but this is a showcar! We weren't done yet, two more rounds of polishing and refinement would follow.

Love these late night polishing sessions

First round was CarPro Reflect on a Rupes yellow pad via Rupes 15 followed by CarPro Essence on a CarPro gloss pad. The first round of polishing was probably unnecessary but we wanted to see if it brought out the paint just that little bit more. When you have multiple machines, it was really efficient and easy. Since I know the owner and wanted to do some long term testing, we left Essence as a stand alone LSP, we may coat it down the road. I believe this LSP will hold up nicely on this type of car because it is stored indoors 24/7 in a temperature controlled garage and rarely gets driven for long periods of time. The dirtiest it will ever get will be very light dusting from sitting for long periods of time but we will be doing weekly rou time washes.

Overall I & the owner were thrilled with the end results. We had some other customers commenting how glossy it looked. That's makes us happy!

Brought it out side to check everything, the sun doesn't lie.

The exterior trim was oxidized so we coated it with CQuartz DLUX to bring some life back

All the metal was polished by hand. The chrome bumpers unfortunately are scratched up badly and need to be redone to look new again but the rest of the metal trim cleaned up nicely with a little
Muscle power.

Lastly the interior was given a spruce up with a vaccinated throughly cleaned. Some dust that's accumulated but also a lot of dirt in the crevices needed to be cleaned.

Thanks for taking the time to look.
