I had previously done this owner's 560SL. I know he is an Audi fan as he contacted me through on of the local Audi clubs. When I was at the garage previously, it was full with a pair of porsches, the 560SL and a 65 Mustang. He had called me back to look at his Audi S4. I had assumed it was his white 2013 S4 daily driver that I had seen previously; it was in good shape, so thought this would be pretty straight forward. Instead I found a black 2000 S4 waiting for me. Apparently we had our signals crossed, he thought I had seen this one previously, but it was off site during my last visit. This car only has around 80K on the clock, which is very low as far as stage 3+ S4s go, the paint told a different story though. RIDs everywhere, chips, flaking paint, scuffs and all manner of swirls. I tried a few one step tests, but just was not getting the desired results in a reasonable amount of passes, the combo of hard paint that did not want to finish down and deep defects was asking for a compound and polish.
Car was already washed when I arrive and only mild contamination on the lower panels and bumpers. I started with meguiars yellow clay and ONR as lube. Compounded with D300 and Megs MF cutting pads on the 21 for most work, bumpers got the 3401 with B&S 4" pads and FG400. Polished with M205 on a rupes yellow with the 21, bumpers got the 3401 with LC white hybrids and menzerna final polish. The car was then wiped down with eraser followed by 30% IPA and then coated with CQUK.
Passenger fender before

After compound, tape is to cover flaking paint from a failed fender rolling job.
After Polish

Passenger door before

After compound

After second compound & polish

Rear door before, despite the look, the long streak is actually moderate scratches, I'm guessing from a purse since there was evidence of some heel chips on the driver's door sill.

After compound

Rear bumper before, some deeper scratches above on the boot lid that were too deep for this process

After

Driver half of front bumper before, covered in rock chips and these couple nasty defects

After compound & polish, the really nasty stuff remains but is greatly reduced.

Some finals after CQUK application
