Hey there Moderators,

I have used the 2016 CQuartz with some good success. I just purchased a new bottle however when it arrived it was the 2015 mix and had an expiry date of June 1, 2016 (its now September 2016). I applied the product over Essence however, even after 5 minutes i was not getting any resistance on the Micro Fiber towel. Weather was approximately 23 C (75F) with low humidity. So, here are the questions:

1. Is the product to old, should I contact the vendor and ask for a newer bottle?
2. Does Essence impact the removal, making it easier to remove?
3. Should I have waited even longer than 5 minutes with the 2015 mix (bottle says 1-5 minutes which worked for the 2016 mix) to remove it?

What are your thoughts on this 2015 mix?

Hi there GoldenGg, just to verify you purchased somewhere other than CarPro-US.com correct?

1.- That depends some on the storage. In general I tell people when it comes to coatings its not worth prepping the car to put a potentially expired product on BUT IF you have already prepped and applied it then it will be simple to find out if it expired or not. Within a couple washes you will know. If its acting awesome after 3-4 weeks from application then it means its fine and will last as long as expected.

2.- Essence does make it flash slower and slide easier.

3.- 5 minutes should be fine unless its cold. The Essence may be slowing down the flash time.

Best Regards,
Corey

Hi Corey,

Thank you for your reply!

I would love to order directly from Car-Pro US however i am in Canada, so i ordered from a vendor in Canada. That said, i do wish i could order direct as the Canadian suppliers are often missing some good Car-Pro inventory.

If Essence is slowing flash time, should I re-apply and give it a little longer than 5 minutes? The temperatures have been perfect shorts and short sleeve weather, about 75 to 80 degrees.

I apprciate your thoughts!

Hello GoldenGg , As Corey mentioned above; within a couple washes you will know. If its acting awesome after 3-4 weeks from application then it means its fine and will last as long as expected (no need to re-apply). If not, or if you plan to lay down another coat anyway. I would (firstly contact the vendor you purchased the CQ from and request a bottle with a fresh date code). Then when applying, try increasing the wipe off time slightly (on a small test spot first) until you find the optimum time. Sometimes in temps such as you are experiencing and with low humidity, and if applying thick, flash times can definitely be somewhat longer.
