2016 Chevy Shortbox

Good morning everyone!

I have yet to post on here besides my introduction, so I thought I would give everyone a quick taste of one of my most recent projects. It's a story worth the read, too!

A customer contacted me regarding his brand new 2016 Chevy shortbox. Being an elderly gentleman, he was looking for a service that would provide him with easy maintenance and swirl resistance. I went to the initial pickup of the vehicle right off the lot, and surprisingly enough it was in pretty fantastic shape - a rare occurrence for my area, unfortunately. Now this gentleman was fine with my pricing and seemed quite thrilled to have my services performed. However, a relative of his expressed his delight with another detailer in town, and so he had decided to go elsewhere. Holding no hard feelings, I advised that should he require anything else to simply let me know and the best of luck.

Well....

Not a month later did I receive a call from this same gentleman. He wanted to let me know that he would like me to perform the same service that I had previously quoted him. Sticking to my pricing, I had no issues with this, but I did request to see the vehicle first. Apparently, the other detailer 'power polished' the truck, before applying a "Diamond Kote". To say the very least, the paint was unfortunately destroyed through whatever processes were used. Severe rotary trails, RIDS, and swirls scattered heavily across the entire vehicle. It was extremely sad to see a vehicle that rolled off the lot in such nice condition, to be treated the way it was.

So now I come into play - rather than doing the originally single-stage polish & CQuartz application, I went a step further at no additional cost:
  • 3 Bucket Hand Wash
  • Iron X
  • Tar X
  • Mechanical Decontamination
  • Diamond Kote Removal (Compound)
  • 2-Stage (FG400, SPF)
  • CQuartz Application
  • DLux Application
  • All other finishing touches

At the end of (a very long) day, the customer was thrilled with the turnout of the vehicle and I was happy to help. Although I did not perform what I would consider a full paint correction, I still felt that for no extra charge, the customer received what they should have in the first place.

Hope you enjoyed the bit of a story here! Pictures below...

And now the process/after pictures...

Don't mind the dust on it now ;)

Thanks for reading everyone!!

Tyler,

You area good man Charlie Brown. I would have loved to hear the conversation at the dinner table between your customer and that relative.
The product you mentioned almost sounds like something a dealership would apply. I tried looking up installers in two different areas and found no one. Conversely, I can quickly find three different CQUARTZ Finest installers near me.
Also, maybe the other product "may" work but as we know Preperation is the key to success.
As others have stated, no pics displayed.

Night and day! You may have gained a second customer in that guy's relative.

Great turnaround.

That other detailer really jacked up that paint....wow. nothin like paying for swirls. Good fix Tyler.

SO I just edited the thread with all the valid links, and got a permission error and now it appears the original post is gone.

Hopefully one of the mods can chime in here?

Thanks everyone! Was an interesting job to say the least given the circumstances
