Wow. Great job! That's definitely a show car finish. Posting a writeup would be really nice.
Thank you. IMHO it turned out pretty nice.
Per your request here is a little write up. (I added product URL links in the text post below.)
I used to go into great ad nauseum 4 P's detail on every product I touched when I did a car.
Now it just "Here's the finished product" - TADA - but because you asked I'll make it short.
Iron X Snow Soap to via PW/foam cannon for prewash to assist with cleansing and decon.
Two bucket wash method with
IronX snow soap with
Carpro Merino Wool Wash Mitt.
Two
Grit Guard Inserts in the buckets with a
Grit Guard Wash Board in the soap bucket.
Followed by
OBSSSSD Ultra Fine Clay with CarPro
ImmoLube mixture for the clay lube.
Once clayed, checked via baggie test, washed again to remove any residual clay/clay lube.
With the paint "clean" I was able to document the vehicle with a paint thickness gauge (PTG).
Short Story!
One of the client's main concerns was, he had the dealership remove a pinstripe from the car.
This left a 1/4" stripe down the entire both sides of the vehicle that the dealership "buffed out".
What they actually did was cause a 6" wide line of fine micro-scratches down the entire both sides.
From "most" angles (depending on the light) it was not visible...but when the light caught it right...
This is one of those...Only stand on your left leg, put your right index finger in your left nostril.
Lean left. Now angle your head so your right ear is touching your right shoulder. Do you see it now?
...and yes, under certain light and a special angle you could see the entire band of micro scratches.
He knew they were there and pointed this out as an area of concern. I knew he was that meticulous.
OK, back on to the 4 P's (Paint, Pads, Products and Process)
Most polishing was done with a
RUPES BigFoot LHR 15 Mark II w/5" BP and
Megs Microfiber Discs
Minimal swirls, only a 1 step was needed. For polish I used
CarPro Essence: EXTREME Gloss Primer
After the entire vehicle was polished it was wiped down with
CarPro 2 Face (No Lint) 16" x 16"
This was followed with two coats of
CQuartz Professional and a light wipe with
Reload 24 hours later.
The wheels, plastic trim, skirts and the inside of the gas cover area were coated with
CQuartz Dlux
This is how the hood responded
BEFORE the process. As good as it "should have been" it just puddled.
