Are these compound/polishing marks?

I bought this car new, never took it to a detailer. I wash it weekly and seal/wax every other week or so. I have never put a polisher/buffer to the car but I swear it looks like compound/polishing trails/marks. It shows up under the street light, it shows everything from microscratches to small waterspots and these marks/trails. Are these compound/polish trail marks?

Incredibly difficult to tell from this picture however with what you’ve shown and noticed on the panel, a ballpark guess would be that two spots on the top fold of the door have been resprayed.

Strange if you’ve had it from new however damage can occur in the factory or at the dealership and are patched before hitting the lot.

To elaborate, those two patches look dark perhaps because there is a slight difference in colour and or metallic flake. Silver is one of the most difficult colours to match.

It looks as if two pieces of damage or unacceptable blemishes have been repaired and painted from the top of the sill to the first fold.

What makes me question my own theory is if two spots has been repaired, they would most likely spray the whole top fold of the door.

It may have been done by a quick repair guy at a dealership.

Get some shots of the area in full sun and under a detailing 90+ CRI light. This will help show up any inconsistencies in the paintwork to help determine what the deal is.

Thank you for your reply. I do have a 97 CRI light I can take a picture with and I’ll have to wait until I get a sunny day here in Maryland to take that picture. Will post pictures ASAP. Thank you very much for your help and expertise.

A very steady and well focussed video tracking across the top section of the panel will help.

Get in as close as the camera will focus, with the light on the opposite side shining into the lens.

If I’m on the money, there will be evidence of flake texture and perhaps even colour changing across those two patches.
