This classy C6 Vette came in for a Finest detail. The goal was to remove most, if not all swirls, and light bug etching up front. On most cars, I probably could have performed a thorough single step polish and achieved excellent results. Well, it didn't go that way on this one. As many detailers know, Corvettes can have very physically hard clearcoat. I decided on a two step process, first a compounding step which was followed by a very thorough polishing step. I was able to achieve nearly flawless results and significantly improve the gloss, beyond how the paint came from the factory.
The interior was also addressed while the vehicle was at the shop. Being a light color, the carpet and leather was quite discolored. I use nearly all European vapor steam to clean the inside of a vehicle. Not only does this method sanitize all the surfaces, it achieves better results, and significantly faster dry times.
A crystalizing encapsulation cleaner was used along with steam to clean the carpets. This leaves no residue after it dries and is vacuumed. The floor matts, being more soiled, were hot water extracted.
Time required: 23 hours +
Product and Machine Highlights of the Process:
Rupes 21, Griots DA, and 2" pneumatic polisher
Meguiar's MF pads along with M105 Compound and M205 Polish
Nearly the full line of Carpro chemicals were used to clean and prep the vehicle
Cquartz Finest Ceramic Coating was applied to paint, light lenses, and wheels.
Cquartz DLUX was applied to all plastic trim.
3" CarPro Flash pads with M105 to correct lenses.
Ambient air temperature is lowered to approximately 75 degrees and is compared to the temperature of the vehicle's body panels prior to coating. Humidity is generally kept under 50 percent.
