Carpro Gliss!

Just earlier got an email notification of this new product.

Sounds "Vely Intelesting", and of course I/We will be interested to know more.

Reckon some numerous questions arise, and imagine Corey and perhaps any Beta Testers will hopefully come forward and tell us more.

My first questions are, "Is it necessary", and "what additional benefits can/will it bring to the table versus CQuartz Coatings-Reload?"

Others perhaps will be a question of when can and should it be used? Immediately after a CQuartz application, or can it as well be used as a rejuvenator product to add longevity to a Coating applied many weeks-months before?

Havent tried myself yet. From CarPro's info:

* More slick/smooth.
* Improved water contact angle.
* Can be used as a stand alone LSP.
* More resistant to water spotting.

Hope anyone with more experience can add to my post :D

Will be applying Gliss over CQPro this weekend and ppf... excited to play with it. I will update next week

-DD

I just used it for the first time 12/7/2017 and...

------------
The Kit I purchased Includes:

(1) 50ml bottle of CarPro GLISS
(1) Applicator Block
(4) 4" Microfiber Suede Applicators
------------

Insert 4" suede applicator into applicator block.
Run a line of Gliss on the 4" suede applicator cloth.
Wipe wet gliss on bare paint or on top of Carpro coating.
Wait until haze...it's pretty quick. (In my case 15-30 sec).
Wipe off. I used a Carpro 2 face "No Lint" towel for removal.

I bet I did the entire car in much less time than wax/sealant.
I don't believe I have applied ANY coating ever that was easier.
I applied it to both the coated paint and the ppf with no issues.

In my case, I saw/found some smearing on a couple of (not all) panels.
I went back with a CP 2 face towel and removed any remaining smearing.

This issue was probably caused by me (1st time, learning, too much, etc.)
Even so, it was easily corrected with a "Walk Around" and a clean CP 2 face.
I'm pretty sure I used way too much and I have about 2/3+ of the bottle left.
My guess is if applied properly I could get at least 3+ cars out of one bottle.

Gliss looks GREAT! it goes on and comes off fast and easy.
Short Version: Put it on, let haze 15+ secs, wipe off, done!

This sounds great and makes me excited to use mine ASAP.

Now I am thinking of redoing the hood on my wife car with CQ and then doing a 50/50 of topping half with Gliss just to try and see the difference and durability.

What surface prep is recommended for applying over CQUARTZ FINEST?

I found this info on the store site...

Features:
  • Slick and Hyper smooth
  • Next Generation Top Coat!
  • Industry leading sliding angle!
  • Also works great as a stand-alone nano-coat!
  • Anti-static: Non-oily / resists dust retention
  • Adds thickness to your existing coat when used as a top coat
  • Enhances resistance to water spots and mineral stains
  • Extreme Hydrophobic affect
  • Enhances Gloss and life of any ceramic coating

Specifications:
  • Durability: 12 Months +/-
  • Coverage: 20ml per coat +/-
  • Water contact angle: 115°
  • Recommended working temperatures: 40F to 90F

Directions: (For use as primary coat)

  1. Wash with CarPro Reset, decontaminate, and polish with CarPro Reflect. If heavier cut is needed, may start with CarPro ClearCut
  2. Wipe down with CarPro Eraser (vehicle must be 100% dry and free of moisture or dew.)
  3. Drag two lines of product across length of suede wrapped applicator.
  4. Apply evenly across surface, approximately 2 ft x 2 ft section at a time. (Any overlap from one section to the next must be within a couple minutes for even application)
  5. Add more product to applicator as needed to keep a wet, even application.
  6. GLISS will flash fast and when a white haze forms, immediately wipe off all residues using a microfiber towel. If haze is left on too long then reapply and immediately wipe off.
  7. If layering on top of itself, wait 1 hour between coats. If IR cured, you may repeat immediately. Total cure time: 6 hours.

Directions: (For use as top coat)

  1. May be applied 4 hour or longer after CQuartz.
  2. If IR cured may be applied after 45 minutes from CQuartz application

After Tips:

  • Keep surface dry for at least one hour after application
  • Wipe any water off the surface during the first 24 hours after application
  • Avoid detergents and chemicals for 5-7 days after application
  • If it is dry and the air is clean outside then you may park the vehicle in direct sun after application is complete to hasten cure
  • To maintain wash regularly with CarPro Reset or Ech2o

Recommended Surfaces:

  • Paint
  • Metal
  • Plastic
  • And many other non-porous surfaces

Is this what you were asking about or...cleaning the coated surface before application?

I am interesting in surface prep for a car that has been coated 1+ years ago. the CQUARTZ FINEST is still going strong, but I thought that this might be a nice way to extend the protection even longer.

A deco wash would be my recommendation with irons followed by reset. Then you can apply Gliss.

I was gonna try Gliss as a topper for Finest. 7 inches if snow and cold temps have curtailed that..,LOl!!

Well that stinks. Mine will be here soon. I plan to re-coat my camaro and debating what to use as a base UK or TiO2 then Gliss.

Thanks, Guz.. Moving south soon hopefully will be able to do it sooner rather than later.

Hhhmmmmm, you’ve got a bit of a conundrum there. You’re out west? I think I’d give the Ti02 the nod....

I'm going to use Gliss on my wife's Escape and father-in-law's Colorado, both of which I coated with CQuartz (regular).

Edit: I believe I'm going to apply Essence Plus and then a coat of Gliss unless y'all advise otherwise.

IIRC Essence Plus is advised to be used on top of a coating not under.
E+ purpose IIRC is to fill fine swirls, add gloss and hydrophobicity on top of a coating.

I'm not sure the correct combo when applying both E+/Gliss products on top of Cquartz?

Someone chime in here?

Hello mu friend! Merry Christmas Jaddie! I would advise NOT to use Es PLUS underneath. In fact unfortunately we should not use Essence under GLISS either. We either want to prep like we would for a coating or at the very least we want to completely strip any dirt, tar, and do a decontamination - i.e. Reset, Iron X, Reset, Eraser, coat. IF Reload has been used on it in past then it needs Tar X in the process between Reset and Iron X.

So what I gathered from this is...

1) Gliss is a coating for a coating. Required prep for Gliss is the same a coating.

- i.e. Reset, Iron X, Reset, Eraser, coat.

IF Reload has been used on it in past then it needs Tar X in the process between Reset and Iron X.

- i.e. Reset, Tar X, Iron X, Reset, Eraser, coat.

2) Essense Plus is for use on "top" of a coating.

A CQuartz coating - i.e. UK, TiO2, CQ Pro or CQFR can NOT be applied on top of Essence Plus.
