CarPro Suede vs. 2 Face for CQuartz

I have used CarPro suede towels for leveling CQuartz in the past and have just disposed of them after use out of fear of them being contaminated with crystals. I've noticed the CarPro 2 Face towels available now, and am wondering if I should use those instead. If so, they are expensive enough that I would want to reuse them but that makes me nervous. Advice?

You are going to get a few answers. It will come down to user preference. My personal preference are low nap towels similar to the CarPro 2 Face towels. They just seem to work better than the suede towels.

Some people will add all purpose cleaner or a dedicated towel detergent in a bucket with water and put the towel immediately after use. Some say this works and the towels are safe to use.

The 2 face towels are by far the best towels in our opinion to use to wipe off the coating. they are a little pricy though. If you want something little cheaper we also sell edgeless white polishing towels as well. They work just as well. Some people prefer the suede and are able to get great results from it, I would argue that this however is the minority of the population.

We have heard of people doing this. Taking the towel and dunking it in a cold water filled bucket immediately after wipe off in hopes to save the towel. We will not say that this works, or doesn't, all we will say is do this at your own risk because in theory the Cquartz will harden on the towel and then become an object that can scratch your coating in the future, water or not.

I will check into the edgeless white polishing towels, as the last time I used the suede I did have a bit of a hard time. Are they equally good on black? It would really suck to spend all the hours prepping only to have swirls from the final steps.

I’ve been using the suedes and tossing them after use. Now I keep hearing that if I put them in a solution of APC and water then wash they are reusable. Can anyone that has really done this chime in?

You could use the suedes but a medium napped towel will work much better. I find by spraying Reload or and SiO2 based topper directly into the towel for application works better than spraying onto a panel. By spraying the towel it allows you to apply the product more evenly and there won’t be any streaking. Streaking is usually caused by overapplication.

An old thread I know but can the Suede towels be used for other applications such as Reload or Elixir?

One option is to save them and cut them to make your own suede applicators. Saves you money than buying the pre-cut versions.
