Dear friends, i live in very dusty area and over the period of 2 or 3 months i have to clay bar the whole car because of rough surface. Thinking about cquartz uk, i applied it for the 1st time and i was very impressed with its looks and all that. Now ita been 3 and half months since i applied cquartz uk and surface is very rough and gritty again. I used iron x but of no vain.
I have meguiars smooth surface clay kit which i happened to use regularly before cquartz.
Now should i apply it??? Will it remove cquartzuk?
Not to mention, agressive water beading is vanished now water just sheets off. That is why i applied reload today for the 1st time.

The reason it is not recommended to clay a coating is due to the chance of marring the surface. The way to remove marring it to polish and if polishing will remove the coating.

So try a test spot first and go from there. 22ple makes a non abrasive clay bar. I have not used it but that is another option. I believe the Meguiar's clay is no the fine to mild side. Use plenty of clay lube to avoid any marring.

I have used meguiars smooth surface and i never had to polish afterwards. So it doesn't marr the surface with proper technique. I have only reservation that it may remove cquartz

Somebody has similar situation? As i heard that nothing sticks to cquartz but its not the case, may be only in my area.
Anybody plz reply.

I have tried various coatings on the market and i will say to not buy into the claims of a coating not being contaminated. A coating can sure enough develop contaminants on the surface. As I mentioned you could try a test spot to see if claying works out. The other option is looking into the non-abrasive clay that 22ple just came out with.

What about trying a different Chemical decontamination first before claying? I decontaminate the coated surfaces 1-2x a year and it definitely helps. I drive 150-200 miles a week on dirt roads.

Tell us your process for decontamination.

I decontaminated using iron x while coating is on.

I might be in the minority, but I’ve found the chemical decontamination process works best by giving it a final wash with a MF mitt & soap (Reset) better than just using the power washer.

Other things that come to mind as I thought about this. Has this car seen rain? If so there is the potential of built up road grime as well. Road grime will mask the hydrophobic properties. The other this is that it is pollen season. That will also mask any hydrophobic properties.

I personally have never had to clay a coating. A chemical decon is enough. I will only clay when it is time to re-coat or I am bored and move on to test another coating.

Try ironx again and then also give it a stronger wash with Reset.

It has seen alot of rains and hell lot of road grime.
I'm in Pakistan so here is summer and hell lot of hot days.
Well to conclude, i guess i shouldn't clay bar. Lets then give iron x a one more try.

Worst case is you have to clay bar.

There are strong washes on the market that are coating safe to remove stubborn road grime. GTechniq and Gyeon make one that is a little stronger than Reset.
