Hi,

My car was coated with CQUK last June, and recently someone backed into my car and I need the hood and bumper replacement... My question is, how long do I usually have to wait before coating the newly painted hood and bumper? Should I recoat the whole car or just the new parts? Thanks!

It is recommended that you wait at least 30 days. This gives the top layer of paint (the clear coat) time to fully outgas. Some may argue, saying modern paints harden through chemically curing/catalyzing, and not by solvent evaporation. However, the clear layer of paint is still mixed with solvents/reducers. The solvents are used to thin the paint to compensate for variables such as the sprayer used, the temperature and humidity in the booth, etc . After spraying, some of these solvents will evaporate off, or outgas if you will.
Also I see no need in recoating the entire car, unless you have correction work you want to do on the rest of the vehicle.
