Hi

Just bought that to do my Camaro ZL1 and i have a question. Can i put that product on by black wheels to protect them also?

Thanks
Mario

Hi Mario! Yeah you can put UK on the wheels. Make sure you clean them like Jesus is coming to pick them up though, so you'll have no bonding issues.

Hello professionals.
I have question about cquartz uk application.
I did it first time before month. now after one month, i noticed, that hydrophobic effect is minimal. Almost none. So I dont know what was wrong.
My steps:
1. wash car with pH neutral sampoo.
2. rinse with water
3.use clay bar for removing air rust and so on
4.rinse again
5. use isopropyl alcohol (50:50) as spray with microfiber towel.
6. start with cq uk (work with panels, temp. outside around 26 celsius, so i applied cquartz uk and wipe off after approx 1 minute.
7. only one coat
8. after 1 hour, applied reload
9.first 3 days without rain.

no polish, since i am not so detail person, i need just for weather protection.
In december 2015 my car was coated with supernatural hybrid wax (dodo juice), so i applied cquartz after winter period, means after 6 months.

I dont know what next, how to fix it or how to applied it once again but with good result and hydrophobic effect.

Thanks.

I'd wait for Corey to chime in on this one.
I kinda see where someone wouldnt care for polishing and just wanting the coating for weather protection but, some of us are on the anal retentive/ hardcore side of paint protection, and would not even consider coating a car without it being polished.

Like I said, Corey will chime in on this and may help you more.

I like using Duragloss Squeaky Clean on wheels prior to coating to ensure a perfect bond, especially for the barrels.

question also is, if i need polish now after this unsuccesfull application (since i dont have polish machine) or if i can use some eraser or some product to wipe off, and aply new cquartz uk over again... since it was not bonded properly because of so poor water repelency (my opinion). as you can see on that video

You may want to make a new post for this so that it's a bit more visible instead of being tacked onto another thread.

Since you didn't polish initially it could be possible some wax remained on the surface not allowing the cquartz to bond properly. 6 months should be ok but that's one reason we make sure to polish thoroughly in our application of the product. One it makes the finish look better, and two it ensures nothing is in between your clear coat and the coating when you apply.

As for reapplying I would suggest polishing. If the coating is failing on there you don't want to coat over top of it. That will be asking for trouble. You will want to polish to fully remove any remaining cquartz.

This is good advice and what CarPro recommends. Here's some recommendations from the product page.

CarPro USA Preparation Tips:

If contamination exists it is recommended that you IronX and clay your vehicle before polishing.
To gain the most from Cquartz it is recommended that your vehicle have all painted surfaces clean and polished to a high standard.
Use CarPro Eraser to remove all oils leftover from polishing which would hamper the penetration of Cquartz and compromise durability.

I just purchased a new Chevy Colorado, and wanted to protect the finish. I asked the dealership not to wash the truck to avoid them putting any swirls in the paint. I washed the truck twice to remove all the dirt from 2 months on the lot. I used CarPro iron X, then clay bar kit. I don't have a machine to polish, so I went over the truck with a microfiber towel. I applied Cquartz UK as suggested by info in this forum.

The truck looks great except one section (8" x 12") above the wheel on the fender. I guess I missed it or didn't press hard enough when rubbing off the residue. I followed up with microfiber as suggested, so I don't know how I missed it twice, or maybe microfiber doesn't remove residue like suede. I was doing the work in my garage with ambient light as suggested and didn't notice until I moved it outside into the sunlight.

Any suggestions on how to remove the residue? I was wondering if Reload would make it disappear?

If what you are seeing is a high spot, then no Reload won't remove it. You need to lightly polish the high spot to level it. Since you don't have a polisher, you can use this http://www.carpro-us.com/brushes-applicators-tools/scholl-concepts-hand-honey-spider-puck/ and this http://www.carpro-us.com/stocking-stuffers/carpro-reflect-high-gloss-finishing-polish-250ml/ by hand to level it. Go very lightly with minimal pressure and passes, just enough to level the high spot. Wipe off the residue with your microfiber, then lightly apply Reload.

Thanks Dark Horse,

I purchased the products you suggested, hand washed the truck and polished out the residue on the fender. I also noticed that I had some on the door and on that side of the hood. After using Eraser, I applied Reload and now everything looks great.

OK Steve. Here are some photos of the truck. The driver side fender and door had cloudy patches, but now it is all clear. I took them the other morning after pulling out of the garage. We had out first snow in the Toronto area so I thought I should take the photos before heading out into the salt.

Very nice G! That is a great color and some nice reflection there.

Toronto you say? Wouldn't happen to be Willowdale would it?
