Finished my first CQuartz Application!

So first let me start by thanking everyone on this forum who chimed in to help me. I was initially intimidated by my perceived complexity of the CQuartz application process (I had previously been using Wolf's Body Wrap) and all of the great people on this forum were instrumental in helping me get everything I needed to make everything go as smoothly as possible.

So I will admit up front that I tend to be a little obsessive-compulsive and that often manifests itself by overdoing things in my detailing process. I'm sure I did things that can be viewed as unnecessary by many, but to me overdoing it gives me peace of mind when everything is all said and done.

I decided to do a full paint correction/CQuartz/Reload application on my wife's 1999 Mercedes SLK (15 years old!). The entire process took me two days, working each day about 10 hours nonstop. Day One I started with a two bucket wash > IronX > two bucket wash > clay > two bucket wash for surface preparation. I know the repeated washings are a little much, but I like knowing I'm working on a clean surface. To finish off Day One I did a two step paint correction with Menzerna FG400 on orange Lake Country CCS pads.

Day Two started off by another two bucket wash to get the dust off, followed by Menzerna SF4500 on white Lake Country CCS pads. When I finished polishing I did yet another two bucket wash with a couple of ounces of Adam's APC + car shampoo to remove dust and residue, then followed it up with Eraser. I had been using IPA to do final wipedowns prior to using Eraser and let me say just how pleasant of a product Eraser is . . . it smells great, doesn't streak and is just a pleasure to work with!

With the surface completely prepped and ready to go I started my CQuartz application using the 50ml CarPro kit. Application was very easy, the included microfiber suede strips and foam block made it a breeze - simple cross-hatch pattern to ensure complete coverage is all that is needed. I will say that sometimes it was hard to judge whether or not I was getting enough product onto the paint, but after a couple of panels I got the hang of it. After waiting 45 minutes I busted out my 16x16 microfiber suede towels for CQuartz removal - all I can say is THANK YOU for pointing me to these. CQuartz removal was SO MUCH easier than my previous experiences removing Wolf's Body Wrap (I used Microfiber Madness Crazy Piles) . . . best tip ever!

I waited an additional hour after removal and then proceeded to apply Reload. I applied spritz or two on each panel followed by wiping it across the panel with an Adam's Waterless Wash towel. I then immediately used an Adam's single-soft towel to buff the Reload off of the surface before moving on to the next part of the panel. I couldn't believe how easy it was . . . no harder than applying detail spray?!?! Can I really be doing this right!?!?

All in all I am VERY pleased with the outcome (and so is my wife!) Next weekend I will start the same process on my black Camaro, the only differences I plan on are to use my Microfiber Madness towels vice the Adam's ones on my Camaro (I reserve them just for my car, is that wrong?). Going to use Yellow-Fellows for Reload application and thinking of using Crazy Piles for removal. I'm completely open to suggestions for improvement, please let me know what you think. Here are some pictures!

Okay I'm failing at attaching pictures . . . they keep showing up as thumbnails and it won't let me attach more than three?

Great job Chad!!! Looks beautiful!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the product. Cquartz Original is one of my all time favorite products, I've been using it for several years now.

And yes you are correct, CQuartz is VERY easy to use and delivers outstanding results (as you've shown)! Wait till you wash it (AFTER a minimum of one week passes), you will be BLOWN away by the hydrophobic properties!!!

For others reading this in the future: "Usually" when people have problems trying to wipe off the slight amount of haze, it's because they are trying to wipe it off to soon! 45 minutes to 1 hour seems to be most optimal! I've let CQ sit on the paint for as long as 2 hours (for testing) and had absolutely no problems wiping it off.

Great work Chad. CQ classic is a breeze to work with. I'm glad you are happy with CQuartz and the CarPro family.

A couple more quick questions:

How frequently can I/should I reapply Reload?

Any issue using Adam's Detail Spray after washes between Reload applications? Will it leave any residue that keeps Reload from bonding properly or will it most likely be fine after a wash?

On the Reload page it mentions using it in your drying procedure, can anyone explain? Spritz Reload wipe with Dry Me Crazy?

Great job Chad and welcome to the family!

1) How frequent to apply Reload?! The product should last a few months so there is no need to apply over and over again, unless you are like us and can't stop yourself and just want to use it every time you wash your car. Personally (on my own vehicles) I apply once every 4-6 weeks or when I want to restore the gloss, slickness, crazy beads. Below is an example of what I like to see when it rains here in South Louisiana.
2) Your coating is chemically stable so you can use any and all quick detailing products (you just have to be careful with low or high pH products (ie. something like straight APC at pH 12). If you do end up experimenting with a product that does leave a residue, and detracts for the looks/properties, just use CarPro Reset. Your Reload should remain, but most other products won't survive LOL! If Reload does not seem to have the same properties (slickness) you can do a quick boost application. No harm, no foul!
3) Reload can be used wet or dry, and therefore can be used as a drying aid. I personally blow the car (some water droplets will remain) I spritz the Reload, spread with one MF towel and buff with another. The 2 MF technique is a must to avoid streaking or "high spots"

Looks amazing Chad, great work! Can't wait to see the results when you do your Camaro...

Awesome work Chad!!! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback here with all of us! Great tips from the guys too!! Love it!

As to reload and MM towels... That's exactly what I do now. Apply, spread, buff in and off with yellow fellow original and follow with crazy pile as my final buff towel. NEVER a streak with that crazy pile as the final towel
