Flashing and putting UK on top of Finest

I presently have CQuartz Finest on my car and am coming up on 2 years. I am thinking about putting UK on this time, topped with Gliss. I did the engine bay myself with DLux and it turned out pretty well, but I just applied 2 coats of it and never wiped it off. The one panel I did try to go back and wipe, it really screwed it up and made the coating extremely rough.

Now I am looking at actually doing the exterior of the vehicle, where imperfections could easily be noticed. I am considering CQUK 3.0, if I can figure out how to do it properly.

1) How can you tell when UK is "flashed" and ready to be whipped with microfiber towel?

2) What do I need to do to my old CQuartz Finest coating to prepare it to have CQUK put on it?

3) What do I need to do to my spoiler and rims that had DLux applied on them?

I have no idea. I emailed Car Pro customer service, last week asking what I needed to do to prep my Finest coated car so I could put on UK, but I didn’t get a response.

The car is still in excellent condition and would prefer to put UK on top of the Finest, if possible.
 
Well you have a couple options.

You can perform a decontamination wash using ironx and tarx and then apply Gliss over the finest already on the paint. You will have to research to see if these two products are safe for PPF.

If you want to get the best bond you can polish off Finest to remove it. Follow that up with UK and Gliss, of course after an Eraser wipedown after polishing.

The flashing of UK is going to vary by each persons environmental surroundings (ie temperature, humidity).

What does the spoiler look like? Is it plastic trim?

For the wheels, DLUX can be polished off.

I have a challenger Hellcat and the rear spoiler is a black plastic.

I will just buff off the Finest before putting on a new coating. I know IronX is fine with my PPF, but I think the TarX is a problem.
 
If you are going to polish off the finest then I would not worry about tarx unless you have tar anywhere on the lower panels. Ironx as part of your wash prep is good enough.

I googled the rear spoiler and I am trying to see if it is indeed a matte finish and how it can be fixed so you can give it a fresh new coat.

The rear spoiler is a satin black plastic. There is definitely a slight shine and definitely not glossy nor flat.

I do think that polishing will alter the appearance in a negative way. It actually has a great look to it, especially for plastic. It is actually in very good condition right now. I’m just not sure how to take off the cquartz to make the decorating best adhere. Maybe I shioukd just try to top coat it without polishing off the Finest.
