Hey. I've been doing several headlight restorations lately. I basically use a D.A. with a 3" backing plate and sandpaper. Sometimes just SO and a coolpad followed by S3. Does anybody have any suggestions on using a mini 3" air sander/polisher? Been wanting to try this for more power and control. They're made in rotary or dual action. Which would be more suitable for the application? Thanks [emoji4]

I personally prefer the pneumatic three inch da polisher. You can even get a two inch polisher from Harbor freight at a pretty affordable price. You can dry sand with them but they do tend to clog the paper pretty quick.

Great combo for headlights - S0 / S3! I tried this with S0 on a air sander at my friends shop. Cool pad also - like 30,000 rpm for 3 seconds to remove the deep scratches!! Wild stuff

What are you guys using for sanding discs. Are you using the Megs unigrit discs?

So would the dual action or rotary work fine with sanpaper? I'm wondering if 10,000 or 30,000 rpm would do to much to quick?

Rolando I checked out the 2" sander at Harbor freight's sight. Nice! And nice price! Can you put a 3" plate on it? That's what I need.

I just realized I was logged in with my fb account lol. And I don't believe you can add a three inch plate as they don't sell any on the site for that model, even replacement 2inch backing plates. They do have a 3inch that is a pistol type buffer which is nice for headlights. It is rotary though so you just have to be careful and not go too crazy with the speed.

Okay. Thanks for that info. So the rotary will work for all the steps? It says it's 2400 rpm. That doesn't seem like too much.
