Hi!
Sorry in advance for a long post, BUT I need all the help I can get right now!
Short background story:
I picked up my new car in april this year. The first thing I did was send it to a wrapping company here in Norway (which I thought were serious) to put on PPF. Part of the deal with them was that they also had to put ceramic coating on the car (... continue reading
).
The surprise came this weekend (4th of july) which was when I was going to wash the car. I noticed almost immediately that the hydrophobic properties were very downgraded. I was almost immediately convinced that this wasn`t a ceramic coating that they had applied (which by the way turned out to be correct afterwards - I`ll get to that in a sec).
Anyway: My plan on this saturday was to prepare the car for a long roadtrip me and my girlfriend are going out on now for the week to come. Since I wasn`t 100% sure that the coating they applied was ceramic or not, I decided to apply a layer of Carpro Reload that I've had lying around from my previous car just so my car is protected for the roadtrip.
So today (monday the 6th) I got the confirmation from the company that they didn`t put on a ceramic coating, but a top coat (the product used was called CeramicPro Top Coat). Now I`ve also added another layer of Reload on top of that (smart move... #not?)
My question now is the following:
1. I want to strip down the layer of Reload (and that other crap from Ceramicpro top coat) so I can put on Carpro Skin (Which ive already ordered). Is there a proper/correct/incorrect way to do it? Please include step by step, and do/dont`s if possible
2. How should i proceed... without damaging the PPF? I mean... I obviously cannot use a machine polisher to remove Reload. Eraser won`t cut it since its only an oil/polish residue remover, not a sealant stripper.. or am i wrong?
3. Is IPA and Eraser the same thing?
4. Is it possible to apply carpro skin on top of the existing layer of Reload?
Best regards,
