HOW TO USE CARPRO SPOTLESS TO REMOVE HARD WATER SPOTS & MINERALS FROM ALL AUTOMOTIVE SURFACES

When I first heard the news that CarPro was releasing a dedicated water spot remover (specifically formulated to play well with their CQuartz coatings) I was literally filled with joy. Having used several "water spot remover" type products in the past with generally less then stellar results, I was beginning to lose hope in chemical manufacture's claims of a spray on, rinse off product that is actually effective. Since I've never been disappointed with a single CarPro product I was excited to finally try out a water spot remover that actually does what it was designed to do: remove water spots.

Why Spotless? A product that can chemically remove water spots without the use of abrasives is particularly important with coated vehicles since abrasive polishes will degrade the coating and reduce it's useful lifespan. As a bonus, Spotless works on non-coated surfaces just as effectively.

CarPro-US product description:

Spotless paint is a beautiful thing, but it is difficult to maintain in a world of hard, mineral-laden water without constant polishing. CarPro Spotless chemically breaks down the mineral deposits left behind by water droplets (Otherwise known as ‘water spots’) before they can etch into the finish, thus negating the need for time consuming abrasive correction, and prolonging the life of the paint. If left unattended, water spotting can cause permanent damage to the most resilient of vehicle surfaces, including automotive clearcoat, brightwork trim, and glass! Even sealants and coatings are not fully impervious to some harsh mineral deposits and can benefit from periodic chemical water-spot removal to keep them at the peak of their functional and aesthetic performance. Spotless’s proprietary blend of carefully balanced gentle acids safely removes heavy mineral deposits on most vehicle surfaces, and can even be used to help maintain our CQuartz line of nanotechnology coatings. If you are looking for a fast and efficient water-spot remover to dissolve unsightly bonded mineral contaminants from your car or motorcycle, CarPro Spotless is the solution to your problems.

Features:

Advanced balanced-acid formula safely dissolves hard-water deposited mineral residues before etching can occur.
Developed to quickly remove damaging water spots on both single-stage and clear-coated paint finishes.
Excellent for use on glass
Safe on chrome, stainless steel, plastic, and rubber trim
Compatible and safe for use on all CQuartz Nano-Coatings

Spotless couldn't be easier to use. Here is an example of how to use Spotless to easily and effectively remove stubborn hard water stains:

Step 1: Clean the surface to be treated.

These water spots had been on the back of my truck's rear window since I purchased it. I never bothered to remove them because I could not get a polisher behind the tool box attached to the bed. I had actually tried CeriGlass by hand to no avail. I thought they were permanently etched and would require intensive polishing to remove. I had also previously tried pure vinegar and several other "water spot remover" chemicals that literally did nothing at all but clean the window like a quick detail spray would.

Step 2: Apply Spotless to the affected area.

Step 3: Work the product around to ensure uniform coverage.
I like to use the sponge side of a CarPro applicator which works great at spreading the product around without soaking up too much product.

Step 4: Let the product dwell for a few seconds and rinse away for a "spotless" finish!

Let's review what Spotless is capable of... because the facts are amazing. Here we have approximately 4 year old hard mineral stains on automotive glass. Multiple other water spot remover chemicals COULD NOT REMOVE the spots. Even polish had a tough time cutting through the hard mineral stains. Spotless removed the damage in mere seconds.

Another thing I really like about Spotless is the fact that it works on basically any surface. Here is an example of water spot removal from the plastic grill on an Audi S4.

Spotless is an extremely easy to use, economical, and impressively effective water spot remover. It has quickly earned a permanent spot in my detailing arsenal and is a product I highly recommend for automotive appearance enthusiasts and professionals alike.

Spotless is amazing stuff. However use caution using it on windshields that have really bad scratches from wiper blades. One vehicle I did had water spotting so bad I couldn't see the scratches on the windshield. It looked great till I dried it. The calcium settled and dried in all of super fine scratches. Since the calcium was below the surface of the glass polishing didn't work and I had to buy a windshield. Just FYI. I look at the windshield much closer now before I use Spotless on it.

Spotless wasn't the problem. The problem were the scratches and me not seeing them. I've never had a problem since that once incident.

Would re-application of Spotless followed by power washing the windshield remove the calcium from the scratches?

I suspect that the calcium was there the entire time and removal of the water spots on the unscratched sections of the windshield made them stand out, just like some RIDS are more apparent after .compounding

That I don't know. I tried a few different pads/compounds, didn't have Ceriglass, and nothing worked. The owner needed their car back(luckily it was a good friend of mine)and it was a safety issue, especially at night so I just had it replaced.
