HVLP Touch Up Gun vs. Air brush... (wheel/ grille coating)

Haha! Professional asking other professionals questions! That's me!

Curious to the board's thoughts on applying trim and wheel coatings with air tools.

I have seen other professionals use HVLP Touch Up guns and those that use an Air Brush.

Pros/ Cons? (I have some arguments for both laid out in mind; just want confirmation or a good rebuke!)

Thinking maybe I should just buy some Harbor Freight pieces (both Touch Up & Air Brush) to confirm my gut feelings before jumping into quality applicators from IWATA.

Would love to hear your reasoning on why you use what you do.

I went and bought a H.F. Air brush yesterday. I did a test run and it seemed o.k. But plan on using it for DLUX.

I got the harbor freight kit and a second gravity feed brush on Amazon. I use the HF gun to spray dressing under hood and in wheel wells and then I'm using the gravity feed one to spray DLUX. I think it works well. I prefer it to a bigger touch up gun because it runs off their super quiet compressor so my big one isn't firing up all the time.

I like the gravity feed one for my dlux so I can use up every last drop and not mess around pouring it back into the bottle. The glass jar one from the harbor freight kit I use water based dressings and a tiny bit of waste isn't a huge deal and it pours back into the larger bottles much easier.

I just started using DLux on wheels for the last few jobs albeit by hand. I am interested in trying this gravity feed air gun. After you've used it, do you just dump it upside down to pour the remainder back into the bottle or do you leave it? I'm assuming it would gum up terribly if you left it. If that's so, do you then run some type of chemical through the gun to clean it afterward? Also, do you find you use less or more product doing it this way?
