New to the forum here.

So I am trying to find out the difference between the Hydro2 and Hydro2 lite products.

Hydro2 calls for 1:3 dilution to be used as a sealant.

Hydro2 Lite says it is a product that can be used as a QD spray after every wash and that combined with the pricing leads me to assume Hydro2 Lite is of a weaker dilution than the 1:3 dilution recommended for Hydro2.

So what exactly is the dilution rate of Hydro2 lite?

I wanna know this information since I could benefit from this info by buying a larger size of Hydro2 and make 2 spray bottles of different dilutions, one as a sealant (to be used every 3-6 months) and the other one as a regular QD spray to be use in between to keep the Hydro2 coating.

A definite answer on the dilution rate of Hydro2 would be much appreciated.

Hi Arnold, personally I don't find either to be a great QD but Lite would be better for that, still not my first choice. They are not exactly the same chemical makeup but are similar. Both are astounding when used as their main purpose, a spray on, rinse off sealant that's incredibly glossy and chemical resistant and saves a ton in labor.
The concentrate you can dilute 1:6 and it's still effective. I would dilute AT LEAST 1:4.

Here's some more tips.

Rule #1 wash the car
If it has wax or sealant use a soap that will kill that a bit. (Iron x and claying if needed)

Rule #2 rinse well and apply a fine mist of Hydro2 (diluted with at least 4 parts water) to the wet / cool surface

- RINSE after that section which will be about 30 seconds at most from when you started (this basically means you break the car into 5-6 sections at a minimum.

NOTE: Rinse means you rinse everywhere the product did or may have landed or floated in the air or dripped onto.

Move to next section

That's it

For instance if your spraying the passenger side and you see the wind is blowing away from you just go ahead and assume you will be rinsing all the horizontal surfaces to avoid tiny overspray dots.

So, you sprayed the passenger side, it's 20-35 seconds later or sooner if your really fast, you pick up the hose and turn it on. FIRST thing you do is spray off the roof and horizontals really fast to dilute any mist up there (takes 5 seconds to dilute it) and then get to the side you intended on. If you think your moving too slow then run a mist of water across the whole side and then rinse more thoroughly immediately after.

If your slow then break the car into 8 sections or even more if you want to be safe.

Glass: if the car was baking in the sun and the interior was 180F consider the fact the glass may be warm and you need to cool each panel a bit with running water before a fine mist of Hydro2 etc

Thanks for your quick reply. So when you say the chemical composition is different for Hydro2 and Hydro2 Lite, do you mean the dilution ratio or is it a whole different composition?

I was under the assumption Hydro2 lite is a weaker dilution mix of Hydro2 than the 1:3 dilution you recommend.

Well the product (Hydro2 Lite) claims it can be used as a quick detailer on every wash. Maybe not in the traditional QD sense but more like a spray on and rinse off type QD during the wash. So is that still accurate or not?

Here is what Hydro2 Lite says on the product page
Hydro2 Lite can be used as a quick detailer, or after every time you wash.
Ease of Use: Spray on and rinse off or “spray on–wipe off”

I also have another associated Hydro2 question.

So in between Hydro2 application, what do you recommend for cleaning/quick detailing the car?

Is it ok to use a Rinseless wash such as Ultima Rinseless wash or dilute it as a QD spray to wipe on and buff off?

I do a lot of rinse less washes/QD so wondering if this will affect Hydro2 coating in any way. Thanks
