Hydro2 lite rinsless wash experiment!!

I figured I would try something yesterday that I have been pondering for a while...hydro2 lite in a rinsless wash!!

First let me say I'm sorry for not having any pics. I was really rushed for time yesterday. I will be experimenting more with this and will have some pics next time.

I'm not sure if anyone has tried this yet as I haven't found any threads discussing it but here goes....

Wash process -

Rinsless wash using UWW+
Diluted as recommended @ 1oz to 3 gallons
1 bucket with grit guard and 6 plush microfibers
Two waffle weave drying towels
1 bottle of hydro2 lite used as a pre spray.

Ok so let me start by saying my truck came out of the body shop a month ago with some nice new holograms[emoji35]. Unfortunately I won't have time to correct, polish, and coat until next spring so my truck made the perfect candidate to try this on. It was a little to dirty for a rinsless wash. I usually pretreat my panels with a dilution in a pump sprayer. If it's bad enough I will head to the coin op and pressure wash first. (No access to a hose right now)

Disclaimer - DO NOT USE HYDRO2 LITE AS A PANEL PRETREATMENT ON A DIRTY PANEL AND DO NOT LEAVE TO DRY. ALSO DO NOT TRY THIS TECHNIQUE IN THE SUN OR ON A WINDY DAY.

I wanted to get a little protection on my truck so I thought of this and figured why not. I started on the roof as I always do. I sprayed a quarter of the roof with H2lite and grabbed my microfiber soaked in UWW+. I rang it out a little and began to wash that quarter. I then grabbed a WW drying towel and dryed the panel. Then I took a second towel and did a final wipe. I noticed a very clean, glossy, slick surface with no streakes or blotches so I continued and finished washing the entire truck this way and it came out great!!

I've used H2lite as a wowo application before and it's pretty tricky. If your not quick it dries streaky and blotchy.

I always wash a bigger section than I dry to prevent my drying towel from dragging In dirt.
What I noticed with this technique is where the H2lite and UWW+ dried on the paint it left these same marks but when you wash and dry the next section it cleaned right up [emoji16]

I know the durability will be less doing this but I just wanted to see if it would work and I believe it did. The paint felt slicker than it does with just UWW+ and I think it looked glossier.

I definitely didn't like doing this outside because of the overspray on clean panels but maybe I could just spray the wet microfiber instead of the panel??

Then I got thinking what if I added some hydro2 (not lite) right to my rinsless wash solution? Hmmmm.

Even better maybe carpro could make an sio2 infused rinsless wash!!! That would be cool!!

I'm looking for some feedback so tell me what you think. Is it worth it? Is it just a waste of product?

Sorry I'm not the best at expressing my thoughts on a forum. Hope this wasn't to hard to read. Thanks!!

A little follow up to my experiment. We had a good rain Saturday night and this is what I came out to this morning [emoji106]

There was no protection on my truck prior to this experiment and the truck hasn't been washed since.

Thanks! Yeah it's fun to try new things. Right now living in an apt I don't have many options. Gotta entertain my self some how lol.

I can't wait to try hydro foam when I have access to a hose.

This is REALLY cool, I mean your experimenting! Modding these products is a lot of fun and I have zero experience doing what you are with this product. Lite should theoretically be better than Hydro2 for a wiping application.

I like where your head is at for rinse less ;) I know a lot of guys that would like that. 2016 maybe [emoji3] if we can do it good then we will

Now this, is awesome. I'll have to keep this is mind as a potential maintenance wash.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks corey!! I really love carpro products and it was really fun to experiment with this.

I figured the worst that would happen is I would get some streakes or blotches but all was good!

I would be so excited if you guys made an sio2 infused rinsless!!! [emoji16] if you do I know it will be done the right way! Thanks again

Thank you!!

I could tell it was there by the beads but also by the way it released dirt just from the rain. Hydro 2, like reload releases dirt pretty good and this acted the same.

I mixed Hydro2lite 50\50 with distilled water and use it quick spray detailer\wash. Looks and works great.

Very cool! It's a pretty versatile product!

If I can figure out a good dilution I would like to add some right to the UWW+ rinsless wash bucket and see how it works that way.

Great job, YG! Experimentation is the greatest. I have had excellent results using Hydro2 at a 1:10 dilution as a wipe on wipe off. No streaks. Just if you're using in Sun do smaller sections.

The other thing about Hydro2 is that it works better than anything else on PlastiDip and lasts for months. I had it on my dipped wheels.

So my question is this (from a newbie). You state not to use it as a pre-treat, but it seems like you did. Is this correct? Also, would you see this working if you washed the panel, left the remaining water on the panel, sprayed it, and then dried? Sort of a drying aid? thanks for the experiment, as I have considered the same thing.

Does anyone else dilute Hydro2 Lite 50/50? Just planning ahead. Thanks for any insight!

I'm sorry for the confusion I should have clarified that a little better.

My truck has recently received some nice holograms from the body shop. I wasn't overly concerned about swirls seeing how I'm going to polish in the spring. I didn't use anywhere near as much product as if I were pretreating with UWW+.

Hydro2 and reload can be messy with overspray if you don't catch it before it dries. So I guess my main concern with using hydro2 as a pretreatment like UWW is lubricity and overspray.

I just don't want someone getting mad cause what worked for me didn't work for them.

I think my next experiment may be to pretreat the panel as normal with UWW then spray my already soaked microfiber (soaked with UWW) 5-6 sprays of hydro2 lite and wash as normal.

I would think you could use it as a drying aid. You just may have to wipe a little more than normal to make sure you get everything. You may even want to dilute it a little further. Maybe even try regular hydro2 10:1. I think other members have used it at that dilution but I'm not 100% sure if they used it as a drying aid.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the clarification. I may try it more as a drying aid. 10:1 is a good suggestion. Any others? Thanks again.

It should work good for you! As far as other suggestions, just have fun! It's what this detailing thing is all about. [emoji16]

Keep us posted on how you make out.
