A strange issue came up while prepping my 2014 Honda Odyssey for polish and a coat of c-Quartz.
The van has numerous rock chips on the drivers side that I have previously (and successfully) hidden with the dr. Colorchip road-rash kit. It is a pearl white, so technically a three color, fine metallic paint. The touch up paint provided in the kit was a very good match.
I foamed the car (Chen bros honeydew) as usual, 2BW, then proceeded to decontaminate with iron-x, following all* labeled instructions. I've used iron-x before on other vehicles without issue (love the results! the smell... Not so much).
After iron-x did its magic (wow did it bleed) and thoroughly rinsed with fresh water my wife and I both noticed the pearl white chip repairs had changed to light grey. I'm wondering if iron-x has reacted with some component of the touch-up paint.
If anyone has read this far, here's where the all* comes in: Always test in an inconspicuous area first before proceeding. It's my fault for not heeding this warning.
Please learn from my mistake. Extra care should be used on touch-up paints and areas with recent damage. There's no telling how they will react.
