Is there any way to remove CQuartz DLX from Trim?

I'm noticing many trim parts on my Tahoe beginning to turn greyish in appearance. They no longer have the total black like new appearance they once did.

Textured Black Door Handles, my Rear Step Bumper Pad, etc.

I suspect the DLX application has come to the end of its life, but I'm getting the impression that re-coating will not reverse this greying noted on trim. Nor will any other trim protectants I've experimented a bit with.

Is there anything that can strip or remove it without worry of damage to the parts?

Will be a bummer that there's no way to rectify what DLX turns to with age.

Hey mark. Unfortunately, there isn't currently a way to get the Dlux off except just waiting for it to be removed with time. if the plastic that the coating is on is smooth, you could carefully polish it, but I know you had said it was textured so unfortunately there isn't much to do.

Disclaimer** We have had some customers saying that they have found luck removing coatings using this product here** https://www.amazon.com/Chemtronics-Flux-Off-Concentrate-Flux-Remover/dp/B007XIKL9M BUT we have not personally tested this product on trim so you would have to use it at your own risk!

And in the case of some of your trim turning grey, theres a product offered that can help restore it. ive used it on the "used to be black" parts on my nissan titan and it made the pieces look brand new. It may be worth a try to see if it will still hold onto the trim, especially not knowing if the coating is still prominent. https://www.carpro-us.com/solution-finish/solution-finish-black-trim-restorer-1-oz/

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Found this from Avi in an old thread on Autogeek.

I had wondered if a new re-application of DLX would "cut" through the old?

Not from my experience. I am having the same "silvering" issue but awhile back was told I messed up the application even though it was applied back in 2014. I just figured it was the coating wearing away but havn't been able to fix it yet since I can get it off.

The issue with Solution Finish is since the DLUX is on the plastic it can't "soak in" and do its intended job. So it sits on top of DLUX but doesn't soak in.

That seems to be the case with anything over DLX.
Sure would be a needed item if the factory came up with some product.
