Issues with textured black plastic trim

My truck has black textured plastic trim around the wheel wells. Unfortunately, I got some polish on one of these wheel wells a few weeks ago. They are became white and chalky. I decided to try and remove the chalkiness using Eraser and a small stiff brush. I cleaned the area thoroughly, rinsed, and topped with PERL. It looked so good when I was done that I went ahead and did all 4 trim pieces. A few days go by and the attractive sheen is gone, and all 4 wheel trims are chalky white. WTF!? Keep in mind my truck is brand new with less than 4k miles. How can I fix this? Where did I go wrong?

I was thinking of throwing dlux on them, but wanted to be sure the white sh*t was gone first. Anyone have any ideas as to why they are turning chalky white after a few days of Eraser + PERL?

The polish you inadvertently got on the trim pieces must not have been fully removed (or possibly even some of the residue was transferred via the brush to other areas and not fully removed) , and the PERL is temporarily masking the remaining polish. Removing polish from textured black plastic trim can be a bear.
