The details at my shop usually end with some light scratch removal and then some wax. Im looking for a cost efficient and heavy cutting polish I can use with my DA in one quick step to eliminate some defects before putting wax on. Anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks

Scholl Concepts S3 Gold with a choice of pads (spider pad kills with them) or CarPro Reflect with Flash Pad

These two options are as good as it gets for one step.

Okay. Will these two products offer some good cut?

I believe in another post you mentioned working out of Wyoming and the amount of ranches populating your area (you'll love this) I'm in SE Idaho. Believe me this is a killer combination for what you are wanting to accomplish. I know the S3 seems a bit pricey at first glance, BUT trust me it only takes a VERY small bit of polish to accomplish the job. 3-4 drops per panel and your good to go. Also the spider pad is like the energizer bunny, it goes and goes and goes...

Nice. I appreciate this help. I'll give give S3 a try. Does it work well with foam pads as well. I was thinking orange. Nice to talk to someone close by. Im in Northern WY. Have a good one.

It will work incredibly well with many types of pads. I've always used with foam. The spider pad is foam also.

To be honest, I've only ever used s3 with a spider pad. I LOVE spider pads! They are a WORKHORSE to say the least. The way they are designed they dissipate heat unbelievably well. On an average size car I would typically use 8-10 regular foam pads for compounding, but I can do the same amount of compounding now with 4 spider pads. I have yet to wear one out yet, but based on what I'm seeing I would guess the overall lifetime of a spider pad is probably going to be somewhere around 4X-5X as long as traditional foam.

^^^^ sweet!!!! They are indeed amazing Tadman!! I love them!

So which spider pads are you using? If I used foam would orange work well with S3?

I use the white spider pad w/ FG400 and it's a killer combo. I've tried using S3 about six times and it always seems to dust A LOT. I don't have that w/ FG400. I probably need more time w/ S3.

OP, depending on how bad the defects are and what machine you are using. I might suggest a B&S orange pad w/ Reflect on the Rupes 21. Ohhhh buddy.

That combo has way more cut than it should and finishes down great with no marring. The only times I've been able to one step w/ the white spider pad/FG400 is on really hard paint.

From my experience the orange pad, Reflect, Rupes combo gives me the best compromise between defect removal and gloss when doing a one step.

These are just my experiences and my .02
