Hello everyone. This is my first post here so hope I don't sound too much like a noob.
I'm going to get the carpro snow foam cannon mainly because I'm trying to keep scratches off my car for as long as
possible. It was detailed by Karim Kham here in Trinidad with Finest and he did an absolutely flawless job. I've already
gotten some reset and a merino wool wash mitt which I use for maintenance washing and now I'm trying to decide on
HydroFoam or Iron X snow soap. I've gotten addicted to carpro products so much that I might just get both anyway. :D
I guess the real question is how do I go about using the products.
I was advised by Karim to use the Iron X Snow Foam once a month to decontaminate and use the Hydrofoam for other maintenance washing, which I agree with.
Do I foam the car to soften grime, rinse, then hand wash with reset and rinse? I have also seen vids online where people just hand wash directly after foaming the vehicle. Some also pressure wash the foam to rinse. Wouldn't this force grime against the paint in turn scratching it?
This is my car

I would also be helping my buddy detail his white subaru and coat it with CQuartz classic soon. Looking forward to it :D

Hi Nick,

Congratulations, and also welcome!!

I would highly recommend Reset as your maintenance soap of choice.

The most important thing for your Finest coated vehicle is to simply wash it regularly.

You already selected the two best things you can for your maintenance. Washing... it's simply Reset, merino mitt, dry me crazy.

When washing its critical to rinse your mitt after every panel BEFORE placing the mitt back in your soap and back on the paint and of course we never use pressure or weight.

Iron X should be used every 3-12 months depending on the environment.

The Kahn method will work great for you also effectively replacing the Iron X spray step assuming you don't encounter heavy iron particle fallout in your cars environment.

Reload (or you can substitute hydrofoam for this) is a great option for hydrophobics, gloss, and smoothness

Foaming first or washing from start with two bucket or any combination of the three is generally a lot of preference but a few key points make many methods safe and effective.

If I understand the question correctly then yes I would rinse well, foam with the snow soap on thick foam, wash area with mitt, rinse both and move to next section.

The hydrofoam you don't need so much like reset or in this case IX snow soap but can use anytime you like.

Ahhh I missed your main question! [emoji29] I would choose hydrofoam over ixss for a coated car but only if I was using reset regularly and iron x spray every 3-12 months depending on conditions. The hydrofoam I might switch out with the reset every 1-6 months or just whenever I iron x it.

Thanks Corey! I'd be trying both Iron X Snow Soap and Hydrofoam just out of curiosity.
Can I ask what soap I should use if I ever run out of Reset since it's not available in Trinidad for retail?

Hi Nick! You can use any quality auto wash, Meg's gold class should be available. It won't hurt the coating at all BUT, Reset does leave the surface cleaner than other soaps... and this is the idea, to strip any road grime and leave no soap residual behind so don't trust and water react directly with the coating or protection.

In summary, your fine and it may never cause you any concern and worst case you can reset it in the future if needed. Just wash regularly with a quality soap if you can't use reset.

Thanks Corey. Placed my 3rd order today and already shipped :D Awesome service. Will surely be back for more.

Don't want to hijack this thread but seeing as it's kind of dealing with the same question I have figured I'd ask instead of starting a new thread. We've owned our new Outback a year now and had Finest applied before it had 10 miles on it. Since that time I've washed it every 1-2 weeks with Reset and put Reload on at least every 2-3 washes. Seeing as it's a year old I was going to use some IXSS in case there are any iron particles unless there are any other recommendations. Any input as always is greatly appreciated.

Hey Mitch,

Do you have any Iron X spray? You could use the spray then rinse and wash. The IXSS can be used undiluted with a foam cannon also. I've done this before. Just be aware that either way, the Iron X stinks...LOL!

Actually, I'm pretty sure it is recommended to use so e sort of Iron removal product very 6-12 months as part of a maintenance step.

Steve thanks for the info. I know about the stink of Iron X as I've used it before, that's has to be its one down fall.
What I was just considering doing as I mentioned it just use IXSS at full strength with my foam cannon and then after the rinse washing the car with reset. I'd rather use the IXSS unless someone thinks I'd be better off just spraying on Iron X.
