Need rust removal advice

I have a leaky windshield on the car because of rust. Will iron x or iron x paste take care of the amount of rust removal I need. This is a bit more than just contamination. Any advice to kill the rust?

No pictures. The rust is under the rubber gasket of the windshield. I keep a waffle weave in the car, it gets that wet when it rains.
