during sema, i think it was announced that the 1 liter bottles would come in grey? haven't seen any pictures of these new bottles yet. does anyone know if they are opaque grey bottles? pet or hdpe?

also had a reload bottle leak from the standard sprayer the other day. first time i've seen that happen. not sure if it was temp related or just sprayer starting to give out

HI Don, the new bottles are not actually opaque. They are tinted grey, but you can still see through them. They are pet.
The bottles have been switched, but it takes time for them to get into the pipeline on every product.

Occasionally a nozzle is defective, contact via email or in the notes section of next order for a replacement.

thanks for the picture! love the tinted look. i get worried sometimes with pet bottles cracking and leaking over time but haven't had a 1 liter bottle fail me yet

Great post re: bottle material....
OT or On....I'm always concerned about bottle/container storage -- long term, when one buys bulk 1L or 5L and it takes awhile to cycle through.

Just got two 5L of AF Avalanch from overseas...and the hdpe bottle thickness seems thin. I've been sm1teen once where a HDPE leaked, but it was my own fault and I shoved it into a corner...and it got pinched.

Anybody take extra precautions when putting your *bulk* bottles on the shelf etc.

right! it's interesting to see all the manufacturers using PET bottles and not having an issue. that's why i was wondering if the new 1 liter was different

All my shampoos are in PET bottles....it started before coating days, and the nice clear bottles was kinda nice to look at and grab. These days, my go to shampoo is Reset, so it sorta defeats the purpose - since reset is clear. But I still have 3D Pink, Orange *griots*, some red DG, and now AF avalanch. ALL in Pet bottles, Some are old as 10+ years. They only drawback I would say is don't drop them from up high, and they do dent easily and stay dented, unlike HDPE. With that said, as long as you care for them in that manner, should not be a issue..

Back in topic, all of CP stuff is Pet, but I am generally buying 1L or 5L --- so it all get's rebottled anyhow.

I don't think there is any pro/con to this versus HDPE. I've got some HDPE bottles that to me, feel thin and flimsy, and I've repoured them into these Apple Juice Containers that are much thicker in material.

Can someone please tell me what a PET bottle is? Thanks.
Steve

really simplified version :

pet stands for polyetheylene, vs, hdpe which stands for high density polyethelene.
Given the 2, HDPE bottles are better. It's a aesthetics - personal decision for me. I like PET bottles for my shampoo stash bottles, as washing the car and all the stuff associated with it takes more precendence in my ~regimen~ than polishing.

Can someone please tell me what a PET bottle is? Thanks.
Steve

PET is polyethylene terephthalate.

It's a plastic resin and the most common type of polyester.
Two monomers—modified ethylene glycol and purified terephthalic acid—are combined to form the polymer called polyethylene terephthalate.
PET was discovered and patented in England in 1941.
