I have a customer with a Black 2014 Nissan Xtrail and he would like to have minor paint correction done on it. It has some minor swirl marks as far as I can see which I was confident would be no problem to take care of but as I was looking through the vehicle I saw the this scratch shield tag which I remembered reading horror stories about on other detailing forums.

It has made be a bit skeptical of attempting to do paint correction on it. I am by no means a pro having only worked on a handful of vehicles with carpro products and coated with cquartz classic and uk.
Do any of you have any advice as to the process of correcting Nissan's Scratch Shield paint?
All I have been able to gather so far is to avoid being aggressive and try not to generate much (if any) heat. I am thinking a carpro gloss pad with reflect on a Griots 6" DA.

I am thinking know when to hold em' and know when to fold em'.

Don't do it.

I tried a test and got some improvement but just could not get it to finish down. I told the guy I could not do it and advised him to be careful when choosing a detailer because of the scratch shield.
Would still like to hear of any other experiences you all may have had with this though. I am sure it won't be the last time I get the opportunity to correct this type of clear coat.

Not directly familiar with Nissan scratch shield but would think If they used anything durable enough To prevent scratching.... You would need more cut to correct. If you can get wash marks, light marring and similar in the "scratch guarded" areas, they can come out.
