Hi Jeff,

On two of my vehicles, with protective films XPEL and 3M,the coating is on top of them Also, my Tundra has decals on the bed and coating of top of those too.
On the one car it has been well over two years and no issues.

Just curious, how long have the letters been on?

They are 3 days old, I went over them and didnt notice any color transfer. All good!

I waited a while and hit the truck with reload, what an amazing look! I previously did the flat surfaces and grill, the soap didn't even want to stick to it, amazing.

Just a quick follow up. I had used essence on the hood and roof and applied CQuartz, which is still performing wonderful.

After I got the lettering back I applied essence by hand with a microfiber pad and applied the coating. Apparently there is a FAQ for essence I probably should have read first :)

So my question would be, how would I go about doing the doors to apply the coating again? I have available the griots 6" RO. Would it be advisable to use essence with a finishing pad on the door? Would it get warm if its 40 out? Safe to go over the lettering?

Thanks!

Thanks Jeff! Proceed with caution as far as polishing over vinyl letters (mostly because I don't want the liability for telling you to go for it!) Hahah! Mostly kidding, but yes be careful on lettering. IF it is matte or semi type then do NOT polish it with any type of abrasive.

Figured ill keep it in one thread, but my brand new truck rear ended a dumpster truck in the snow.

Does the paint need to "cure" for a month before applying a coating?

I was advised to let it cure for a month before coating. But to be honest you will get conflicting responses on this.

I have a truck I have been asked to coat. Its a Ford Raptor with matte or satin graphics on the bed and hood. The graphics on the bed are quite large and mimic tearing paper. After a conversation with the owner, he is sure the graphics are factory installed. My only concern is they look like a pain to tape off (which will be done prior to polishing)and with the introduction of Skin, I was wondering the best way to tackle this job. Can I use skin on paint or just use Cquartz U.K over everything. Any suggestions? I will post a photo of the truck later.

CQUK on the paint and Skin for the graphics. Skin was designed for PPF and vinyl.

Thanks for the response. Is there any issue with Skin getting on paint? I’m trying to come up with the best way to mask these graphics. It’s hard to tell in the photo, the bed side graphics are large and complex.

It won't harm paint. You will be removing any excess when you level it out so no worries.
