I have a Porter Cable 7424. I am getting a new windshield and I want to Polish and seal my windshield I am experienced with the process however I am confused on what sort of pad I should use on the glass.

My plan is to do the following:

1. Clean Windshield
2. Scrape windshield wiht razor blade
3. Clay bar windshield.
4. clean windshield
5. Polish windshield
6. Seal Windshield

? What is the advantage of the Flyby 30 over using Reload?

Also the CeriGlass is mentions the glass pad. Is it the hand applicator in the picture. I plan on using a the orbital polisher. I would like to stay with CarPro products if possible as I find the quality to be unparalled.

The Glass Rayon pads are what you need: http://www.carpro-us.com/glass-rayon-polishing-pad-5/

Everything else in your list looks good, just be careful with polishing glass as it's a whole different beast to polishing paint, It takes A LOT MORE time. You need to have a sprayer with water and only use a little Ceriglass at a time and use water sprays most of the other time.

FlyBy30 is a glass type coating that will have rain fall right off the windshield at over 30MPH. Completely different to Reload.

Thanks Chris!

What do you use the water for? Is it to keep lubrication on the glass?

Does your glass have any scratches or severe water spots in it?

If it does not I would use a paint polish like Fixer to polish it instead.

Let us know and will provide more feedback.

If your getting a brand new windshield and it is absolutely free of defects. Why not just use a cleansing polish then coat the windshield?

EXACTLY right, Not sure how I missed that the first time I read it! if its a brand new windshield I would absolutely NOT use ceriglass. No reason at all to do so.

1.- Simply polish it with some CarPro Reflect or a regular paint polish that doesn't contain durable fillers. You are doing this only to be sure there is no adhesive or anything left on it. Just a few large passes - 5-8 minutes for the total windshield. Wipe off each section as you go with a microfiber towel
2.- Wipe down very well with CarPro Eraser using new towels and flipping to other sides as you go.
3.- Apply Reload or Flyby30 to the glass. IF you are newish to these products in the line I would go with Reload and follow my written tutorial on it. (video to come soon)

Thanks for the catch guys. I think I am going to just use the Reload since I already own it. I live in Southern California so I do not have much rain to worry about anyway. Thanks for saving me money!

I am going to Polish with my finsihing polishing with the Glass Polishing Pad. I have a cutting polish but will only use if necessary. I'll then finish it off with the Reload.

Also at home I have Chemical Guys M Sealant. Would that work as well as the Reload? I know longer have much use for it since I got coated with CQuartz Finest.

Thanks again for your guys' help. It has definately saved me money already.

Not a lot to add to this thread, since all was addressed from new to abused, from light polish to heavy correction!! I will add this though

Terrific! The Chemical Guys Sealant I would not use over or under Reload. Reload will repel and protect better on one hand and it will also not bond to the older tech used in that sealant if applied over the top. So I would just polish BUT do NOT use the glass polishing pad. No need to do so whatsoever on new glass. You want to simply use any stiff to medium density foam pad as you are just cleaning the glass. Then wipe down well with Eraser and then apply Reload.
