Restore plastic trim destroyed by IronX / TarX

Any suggestions to restore black plastic/rubber trim that appears bleached from IronX and/or TarX?

What is all that black gunk on the handle?

Sorry, for context, the original handle is cheap black plastic/rubber. The white speckling is the discoloration from chemical.

Terrible picture, sorry. The damage occurred when applying CQuartz UK, but the car has previously seen cheap wax including Megs Ultimate Wash & Wax.

You are going to have to give it a deep clean especially now that you put UK and then use a trim restorer.

The handles weren't coated. I ended up using tap water and a Magic Eraser with light rubbing which seems to have removed whatever that was (perhaps wax residue?). The handle may be slightly more dull than before everything happened. I guess we'll see what happens over time if the Eraser actually removed the "damage" or just masked it.
