Quick review of CarPro PERL: PLASTIC, ENGINE, RUBBER, LEATHER

Products Used
  • CarPro PERL
  • CarPro Iron X Lemon Scent
  • CarPro Reload
  • Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner

The wheels didn't look bad from far but close up the dirt really shows.

IXLS was sprayed and agitated with multiple wheel woolies. Wheel woolies are nice to cut down on the splatter while cleaning wheels.

IXLS did a great job cleaning the wheel. Tire was sprayed and cleaned with Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner.

Tire and wheel were dried off. Reload was applied to the wheel. PERL diluted 1:1 was applied to the tire and wiped off with a MF.

Here is a close up of PERL being applied to the wheel and a small section not dressed yet. PERL does go on with a little shine.

After the tire is wiped with a MF a beautiful satin/matte finish is left behind. After using multiple other tire dressings I can honestly say PERL is my new go to tire dressing. I really liked the finish it left.

Nice!

When you spray IX on your wheels are you afraid of it turning the wheel weights green and other metal things like calipers?

Matt, remember when I cleaned out the barrels of my wheels and UKd them? I used IX a couple of times on each wheel, none of my weights changed color.

Nice Review Wors, tire cleaner is great huh? With regard to Reload, did you spray on the wheel then wipe off? I UKd my chrome but I'm afraid I'll get streaking if I apply Reload...

I have not experienced this issue before but seen other posts with Sonax doing that.

Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner is the favorite tire cleaner. If someone has another recommendation for tire cleaner please share. I have tried countless APCs on tires. After the tires appear to be clean from an APC, Tuf Shine pulls so much more dirt/grime from the tires. Getting the tires good and clean should help with the durability too.

I applied Reload to a MF then immediately wiped it on the wheel. The wheel surface did feel very slick. Now, I did not have my Hydro2 mixed or would have used it here. Hydro2 on wheels is my favorite to get in the barrels and calipers with little effort.

Thanks, I may just try that - reload to MF then apply - I'm very interested in Hydro2 myself!

For Wheels Hydro2 all the way. I don't know if Reload to a MF is best practice. It seemed to work ok though.

Great review Ben!! As you are aware PERL has been my favorite for tires and one of my two favorites for interiors for years now! With the upgrade a few months ago of PERL the durability has increased as well which makes it last even longer even in rain now. Great stuff!! I have to try that tire cleaner also! Sounds great :) Currently I use Four Star Tire Cleaner or Brown Royale but really must try the one you mentioned.

Tuf shine tire cleaner is the tire cleaner. The bees knees. Definitely try it and when you use it and love it, see about carrying it :D. Idk the company behind tuf shine so it may not be possible..definitely give it a go though.

*** Quick Update ***

It rained really good this afternoon with some flash flooding. I figured the tires might show some water spots or something after being out in the storm for 30 minutes.

The wheel & tire did not have hardly any water on them at all. The SUV was pulled into the garage and pictures were taken minutes later. Before I took the pictures all four wheels looked like someone and dried the wheel & tires. Both PERL & Reload are really impressive.

Great idea! Sounds like exactly what I would like to do... But as you said maybe not possible but will definitely check it out!

Nice Ben!! Is that directly after driving in the storm?

That is driving in from the storm, grabbing the camera and taking a few pictures. The tread on the top of the tire is still wet. It seriously looked like someone dried all four wheels and tires.

PERL is the best tire dressing that I have ever used! I used Optimum for years until I tried this stuff! I can't stand a tire dressing that looks "wet"...PERL gives a nice rich, "brand new" rubber type of look. I dig it!

Great job Ben on the wheels and tires and on the post. Did you rinse the wheel with water before you applied Iron-X or did you apply Iron-X on the dry wheel?

Thanks, I applied it directly to the dry/cool wheel. It keeps it from being diluted.

I had a slight issue in my first application of PERL but it is holding up phenomenally. I think my problem is related to the sprayer, so I got the 12 pack of those 2.5 oz sprayers coming hopefully that solves it. Great job on the review, and boy do I wish my wheels could stay like that for even two days (I HATE the stock the Evo pads with a passion).

I also use Tuf-shine and PERL 1:1 on tires as my go to products. I tried a few tire dressings but keep coming back to PERL as it gives me the look I like.

Thanks Kors for sharing! Definitely am excited to have PERL on my tires as well!

PERL is my go to for tires as well. Love the matte finish it leaves. A big thumbs up for HYdrO2 on wheels. Makes sealing the wheels such a breeze, especially for the ones w/ all the nooks and crannies.

PERL for the win.... I do like PERL a lot, but I will admit that I do still buy other tire dressing/gels
