Shop sizes

PWP Detailing

Hey everyone just looking for some input on shop size. I've found 2 locations I'm looking to move into from my home business. One is 1500sq ft the other is 3000. The 3000 is only a couple hundred a month more and then obviously utilities will be a bit higher for heating it in the winter.

I'm going to be sharing the space with my Paintless dent repair guy so at any time there may be both of us working on a car plus one more vehicle inside.

Anyone have some input on what a good size to start? I don't want to overbuy and just be working to pay the lease since I'm only doing it part time 4 days a week, but I want to make sure I have enough room and also don't want to grow out of it right away as I transition into full time.

Thanks in advance.

If it only couple hundred more, I would go for the 3000.
My shop is about 1500, and once there is paint correction or coating, I only have one 1 bay to work on another car.

I recently moved from my 500 sq/ft garage to a 1500 foot facility and am already feeling a pinch. I'm almost forced to do everything inside, so during the wash process I'm limited to having one car at a time inside. I say if you're sharing the space I'd spring for the 3000 ft facility.

Anyone else here have any input on sharing space also? The Paintless dent guy is now introducing me to a tint/vinyl guy and another friend who does high performance automotive work. They have invited me into joining them for a 4000sq/ft location. I'm interested in the space and sharing business leads with each other but I'm not sure I'm ok with sharing a space with so many people. It will require me to lock everything inhave equipment and products up. Anyone here have any advice for sharing a location? It seems like a great opportunity to get new clients.
