Some updating in my garage

Well I am finally getting a bit of work done in the shop that I have been putting off for awhile. I work out of my 24'x24' garage at my house, which is a block garage that is not insulated. I did the ceiling last winter and this winter I am putting foamboard up on the walls and OSB sheeting over that.
Here is a before picture.

As you can see I removed all the shelves, which I will not be putting up again. The walls will be getting painted white once I am all done with everything. This should really help in reducing my heating cost over the winter and my plan is to run year round after this winter. I will post some more pics as I finish more areas off. I have two other big updates I would like to do this year in the shop also. I am planning on getting a mid-rise lift come spring, possibly even before I start back up and I want to get a new garage door installed before next winter.

OSB is a lot more durable in a garage then sheetrock, along with a lot easier to hang stuff from without having to run tapcon's into the block all the time. I really don't see the need to have finished drywall in this garage. Should be a large improvement once I get it all finished. Considering what my garage looked like a few years ago it is a big improvement already.

This is typically what my garage looked like for a long time just to give you an idea.

This was roughly 2 years ago.

Its nice having a fairly clean garage for once, even though it is not nearly as clean as a lot of you guys have to work out of.

Hey Kevin,

Great progress. If the weather was better I would have driven out and given you a hand. Then we could have headed over to the Blue Bird Inn...LOL!

Steve

HAHA! So you like the Blue Bird? I only live about 10 minutes from there.

Oh yeah. Been there a couple of times and the food was good, especially the carrots on the side. We like that part of Pennsy, Lancaster, Hershey, Lebanon, if it wasn't for the snow that's where we would move to.
Actually the Country Fare restaurant on 422 isn't bad either.

looks great Kevin. keep in mind OSB soak up alot of paint. use an epoxy to get better coverage on the OSB. you can use cheap white paint but it will take a few times to go over the area to make the OSB white. good luck!

Yeah OSB does soak up the paint, but I have a 5 gallon bucket of white paint sitting in the garage already so I should be okay :) Also my wife likes to paint, so that will be her job

Not sure if I posted pics at all since I put the new cabinets in. I ordered some new cabinets from Sam's Club that I put in a few weeks ago. I still need to hang the wall cabinets, but that will have to wait a bit as I need to redo the back wall in my garage at some point this year. I am pretty happy with these cabinets, and it is certainly a cleaner look then what I did have. So here are a few pics.

Cabinets have a decent amount of storage in them. I stocked up my towel cabinet last night after washing most of them.

You gonna need a bigger space LOL! Cabinets look great. Glad you are feeling better and able to install them :)

What happened to the beer fridge??????

HAHAHA! That fridge is now under the ownership of Barry Theal in his new shop. I wanted something smaller that took up less space and have a small mini-fridge now. I just don't keep as much beer there now ;)

Wow wow wow wow wow!!! I'm jealous! You have such a nice working place and so many tools and towels! This really differentiates the pros and the weekends warriors.

Very nice Kevin. Are the Philly cheese steaks in your town just as good as your detailing?
