Hey guys is the paint on Toyotas generally hard or soft? I have a hood to correct tomorrow.

Toyota white and black is prone to fading/oxidation. I did one not long ago with M101 and car pro flash pad followed by reflect and gloss pad. Had great results.

Yes that hood is white and oxidized

<<<<<<<Love me some white Toyota Tundra paint!

I had the truck CQ Finest I stalled by Greg @ Signature Detailing. He only had to do a 1 step correction and I think he did say on my 2015 Tundra it was soft.

Also remember that some Toyota models (non-metallic, especially white and black) are single stage paint. Toyota's Rav4 particularly comes to mind. Not sure if they're still doing SS paints, but I did a 2004 and a 2006 that were both SS paint. Very easy to correct.
I have a ES coming in this weekend, black, paint all oxidised.

Also remember some Toyota models/paints (non-metallic, especially white and black) are single stage paint (and quite thin). Some of Toyota's Rav4's and some Tundra's particularly come to mind, but definitely not all. Not sure if they're still doing SS paints, but I did a 2004 and a 2006 that were both SS paint. Very easy to correct. As others have mentioned, it's usually not a good idea to generalize rather a paint is hard or soft based on the manufacturer, however I have found most Toyota paints I have worked on to be quite easy to correct. In contrast; I have found most all Corvettes I have worked on to be considerably harder... These are usually the only two paints (other than Porsche paint) I generalize in my mind before actually spinning a pad across them.

I usually generalize these two paints (in my mind, based on personal experience as):

Toyota = Soft
Corvette = Hard

Tad brings up a great point about SS Toyota paint.

In my case, Greg did not see any paint transfer to the pad. This topic is discussed on some other Toyota forums.

Ps...HOPEFULLY we'll see some pics?

Around here we dont even see Porsche therefore I can only wish that I will ever get the opportunity to work on one.

Generally speaking Toyota paint on the soft side though nothing like Porsche or jag paint soft where you struggle to wipe without scratching. I have a 13 tundra and have corrected several recent model camry's. White may be the tough one as it looks like still selling single stage white cars. Overall, I would say quite workable paint.

Here's what I would call extremes:
Porsche black paint=SOFT!

AMG Benz paint= HARD!
