Plan is:
1) Reset
2) Iron-x
3) clay bar
4) Reset
5) Fixer
6) ?
7) ? Relfect or Essence ?
8) Eraser...but not if using Essence?
9) CQuartzUK

I do not know if I need additional polishing or primer after Fixer.

It seems it could be any of the following:
a) Fixer > Eraser > CQuartzUK
b) Fixer > Reflect > Eraser > CQuartzUK
c) Fixer > Eraser > Reflect > Eraser > CQuartzUK
d) Fixer > Eraser > Reflect > Eraser > Essence > CQuartzUK
e) Fixer > Eraser > Essence > CQuartzUK
f) Something else

Thanks for any insights,
M.J.

This is how I woudl proceed.

Plan is:
1) Reset
2) Iron-x
3) clay bar
4) Reset 2 ( Only if Needed)
5) Fixer (I would test spot with Reflect or Essence to see if that's enough. If not step up to a test spot with Fixer)
6) Reflect or Essence
7) Eraser... but not if using Essence
8) CQuartzUK

Thanks for your feedback!

So, nothing needed in between 5 & 6?

And by saying "or" in #6, I think you are saying use the least cut needed (Essence < Reflect < Fixer < ClearCut)...and only use as many compounds as needed (i.e. if reflect gets the job done, go ahead and apply CQuartzUK).

Ya?

Thanks for your response.

I think what you are saying is use the least aggressive compound (Essence < Reflect < Fixer < ClearCut), and fewest number of compounds(only 1 if possible, hopefully not more than 2, etc) that the paint condition requires.

The thing I'm struggling with is the marketing copy makes it sounds like each one is all you need...
Fixer: No need for different grades of polish to deal with varying defects
Reflect: Rapidly-Diminishing P3000 scale abrasives quickly remove holograms and light marring before refining down to a fine finishing grade for a perfectly jeweled finish
Essence: Paired with a microfiber cutting pad Essence is capable of unexpected cutting power...But this is not simply a polish...its a primer for CQuartz as well.

So if Fixer can do 90% of my correction...then a slight tweak to your suggestion would be:

1) Reset
2) Iron-x
3) clay bar
4) Reset
5) Fixer
6) Eraser
7) Essence
8) CQuartzUK

Make sense?

Do you need to do any sort of cleansing (i.e.Eraser) between any of the compounds (Fixer>Reflect>Essence)?

First of all which products do you have? Also will you be working by hand or machine?

Essence will not only act as a primer for UK but it will refine and add more gloss due to the SiO2 within the product. I have not used Fixer so I can not comment on it's correcting ability. I have used Clear Cut which is a nice compound. I have used Essence as well.

This would be my recommended process and have done

1. Wash
2. IronX
3. Clay
4. Eraser wipe
5. Test Spot with least aggressive pad and polish combo
6. Compound (Fixer or Clear Cut) - depending on test spot
7. Eraser wipe
8. Essence - let it sit overnight or close to 24 hours after wipe off. This will allow the SiO2 in it to cure with a majority of the polishing oils evaporating off the surface. if not 1-4 hours would be ok. If you choose to use Reflect then you can go straight to Eraser.
9. eraser wipe - I still recommend doing an eraser wipe even if using Essence just as a precaution.
10. CQUK - 2 coats. 45-60 min in between coats

This seems like a lot of steps but it really is not. This has worked for me.

I do this in between compounding and polishing for the fact of removing any oils from either product. I do this after I have completed a compound or polishing step and not during the initial wipe off. I don't do it right after using Essence as I mentioned up above.

Thanks for the feedback,

After inspecting all panels of the car, I've found a wide range of correction is needed. So, I bought a small amount of all 3 (Fixer, Reflect, & Essence), and will use the least aggressive needed for each panel...but ultimately finishing all with Essence, as it works as a primer for the CQuartz.

Hopefully the weather cooperates and I can get started this weekend~
