Using Vic's Red

I'm applying Vic's Red to my Red Nissan, and not sure how long to wait between coats.
I put 1 coat, waited an hour for the 2nd coat to go down. Sound about right ??
My only other question would be.. Should I use a spray wax on top to maintain the Vic's Red ??
