So I am planning on starting a business sometime in the future so in my free time over the last week I have been building a site. Now bear in mind $0 has been spent here. So I would like, your opinions on what I have come up with thus far. Still need a logo, name, and pricing as well.

TIA for any and all feedback.

Looks like a good start man. Just remember to keep it clean and simple, and try and get some examples of your work on there also.

Thanks for the feedback. I slack a little in the taking pictures department.

I was the same way at first, but these days people love to see examples especially if they are looking you up online. I have had quite a few clients ask me almost right away if I was going to do a write up for their car like I have done for others on my website. It would be a good habit to get into.

No I definitely will. Thanks for the great input.

you need a business plan first of all. Lots of money cause opening a shop isn't cheap.

Looks good. The only thing you might chance is the add on back ground hard to read with it.

Thanks, Todd.

Just updated it a bit tonight, thanks to feedback I received here and elsewhere. Tell me if that is better, again still a rough draft.

Wow, see something that looks totally different than it did in preview give me a few.

Here is my feedback - Do away with the different colors of text for the most part. For instance the blue text on black background. Go for something cleaner and more professional looking. Also, the description in about us - Its ok (and everything is for now) BUT you want to evolve to have something that shows your experience and professionalism and less that its a hobby. For sure starting out it should be somewhere in between... Its very common for us as detailers to want to share our passion and be open about what started it for us but imagine a customer reading and what they want to be reassured of as well. Again, Im looking forward a bit as it depends on your market and what you want to attract. Its definitely a lot better than many sites out there.

Don't misunderstand and go the complete opposite either though - I see sites that look VERY professional and turn me off 100%. They are stock photos, I don't believe the detailer when i see stock photos and stock templates and everything looking like its some big company when I know it isn't. Hopefully my contradictions are more help then hurt!

I didn't have time to really look as hard as I would like but one thing jumped out at me. "Us being able to detail your vehicle for you and putting an enormous smile on your face will make my day, month, or maybe even year ;). Take the word "Us" out of the beginning of that sentence.

Will look more as soon as I have time.

Thanks Corey appreciate the feedback. I kept looking at the blue and thought it was kind of distracting as well. Also, the making the about section more reassuring makes perfect sense. Thanks bro :CarproRules:

While I know you are just starting out and don't really have money for a website, I certainly think it's something that money should be spent on and it should be looked upon as if it were one of your tools that you needed for detailing. You don't own a shop or store front, so your website is your ONLY form of representing your company and in this day and age your website is what does the selling. Everyone will check your website before using your services, so it needs to be as good as you can make it with your limited budget.

This reminds me, now the new shop is almost setup I need to do a full correction and install Finest on my Evo X :)

I agree. Avoid pictures like this:

Sure thing bro!! If you want to get on the phone sometime I would be happy to go through it and try to give more feedback and spend more time. Also feel free to ask everyone to check again as you make changes.

Corey (found myself looking for the dancing banana smiley) you are the man. Maybe when my dream becomes closer to a reality I will do so. Honestly I can't praise you and your care for your customers/business enough.

Wow, thanks man! I really appreciate that more than you could know!

Speaking of dancing banana... I've been thinking how badly I need to get that setup in our smilies! Funny how a little thing like that you feel like you don't have time to get to! Priorites :) lol Soon come! Have a great night!!

Did some more updates. If anyone wants to give me the criticism I need. Couple precursors still have no logo, phone number isn't there as I am not truly looking for clients as of yet although I did already get contacted to clean a bunch of baby strollers for a company in the city lol. I am also thinking of changing the name of the highest level package to something like concours or something. LastLy I will also be adding more pics to the services pages I was just trying it out.

Chris thanks for your feedback and I understand where you are coming from. I just like having control over everything and want to be able to make changes on the fly. I think I will make it better and better with time and will get there. I hope anyway if I don't I will throw in the towel and throw down some dough.

If you have a good web developer you should have complete control over your site once it's finished. Every site I develop and design for my customers is always built with a CMS on the back-end so that they can control, create and edit anything they want.

I hear you. I'm old school like a classic car. I used to design sites when I was younger just using raw html and java codes. Honestly got frustrated at first when I couldn't find a free domain to just write my page on, since I haven't done so in years (obviously ;) ). It was just really a throwback and I wanted to see what I could do. I wish I could have my old ways back just FTP loading things, writing the code, and wasting time on it, but hey it is a new day.
