Clay bar on a cQuartz professional ceramic seal?

Hello everyone, I was looking for a local detailer to decontaminate and detail my SUV during the winter while my hose is packed away. I found an authorized installer in South Bend and when I reached out he said he wanted to use a clay bar in addition to IronX. The website seemed clear that you should not claybar the ceramic seal. He said he would be careful but I am not sure why he is pushing for that. The color of the vehicle is black with blue sapphire specs. Thanks for your help.

Actual clay is abrasive and can either remove the coating or marr (scratch) the surface. Of course this leads to polishing. Even an incorrect use of synthetic clay do the same. With proper lubrication a fine grade synthetic clay is a better option during a decon wash.

Also do you have a professional coating installed or a sealant?

It's a professional coating installation. I had it originally done about 9 months ago. During winter I can't use my own hose and products to clean.
