Happy Thursday to CP members, detailers, paint correction specialists, restoration experts, fans and just general folk. I am Mike, reside in Northern VA, and have been detailing since last year. Started off with family vehicles, then went to friend's cars, and now doing whatever comes my way. Like most, I started with Chemical Guys, got good results and then met Shine Doctor. Learned a lot from him and realized that CG had fillers and was giving me false results. I then moved to Griots which gave me much better, realistic results. I bought a few Meguiar's products from their Detailer series but was tired of using "elbow grease" to get a desired result. I then found an ad for CarPro and decided to give them a look see. I have now bought just about every product they carry and with just a few items left to get, have not looked back. Absolutely love the Iron X and Tar X as they make life so much easier! The reset soap strips the paint of waxes so effortlessly that using a claybar is just that much easier. And when it comes to paint correction of hard paint, nothing cuts like ClearCut. On a BMW, it slices through it like butter. Wonderful product!

So, enough of me being long winded. Looking forward to being an active member of the forum and learning from other pros and sharing my newbie experiences as my journey continues.

Hey @dman68, I am not getting the amount of customers I would like but I also have a plan. I am mobile working out of my trunk but am looking to buy either a house or a shop next year. Having a location will improve working conditions ten fold. I will also be promoting and marketing on a more massive level next year to increase awareness. I am using this down time to practice on test panels and family cars.

Welcome , Mike! Can you share your technique with ClearCut? Curious to see how others are getting great results...

Thanks!

Sure Steve. On a bmw I did, I used a lake country mf cutting pad, primed and then 2 dots. Worked on speed 2 of my flex 14-2 until it broke down then speed 4 until it went clear. Wiped off excess and since it was hard paint, I was done. No finishing needed.

Hi Mike and Welcome! Hope your business is doing well.

Yes and no. They say the first year is the hardest and for me it proved very difficult. I have since resorted to doing this on a personal level and still stand by CarPro products as the best I have ever used. And even though I am not doing it for customers or cash, the knowledge I gained and can share with others is satisfying enough to me.

Welcome! Another guy that started off with CG products (me too). I don’t know why CG gets all the newbies and then they realize that there are much better products on the market. I still have some of CGs products but they get very infrequent use. I use a lot more CarPro products now.
